And? Who ever brought up anything about spending 500 more to play 2 "crappy" games? This thread was about you trying to torture your GPU and see what it can do. I did not suggest you to change GPUs at all.

Insulting people because they have the purchasing power to upgrade their GPU is just being . No one is forcing you to dish anything out. If you are happy with your performance then that's it. Don't mind reducing settings here and there? fine, your GPU will last more years, enjoy. It wouldn't be for "slightly better" graphics. It would be for same graphics with faster framerate.

And stop refering to maxing any game if you have to reduce any setting, sans AA, AF, from the "max". Whatever settings you are content with, play on. Many games have already been mentioned, it doesn't matter. Your GPU was top of the line for notebooks not so long ago, of course it is still capable.

Yeah, me too lol. Tried Metro 2033? I only average 40 fps at best with perfect utilization, and that's without physx (obviously) and vsync.

    fair....

What do you get with uber sampling off?

    edit. nice 40fps in metro!!!

I get like 17fps in some spots maxed too bad the game is garbage...more of a benchmark than a game in my opinion...I just didnt like it hated the guns lack of ammo

I love the game, I'm a big fan of survival horror and atmosphere in games and I think Metro does a great job of combining fps elements with survival horror. My biggest complaints are buggy AI and the incredibly annoying part near the end where you're fighting the exploding little jelly monster things... that part sucked so bad lol. Metro is one of the only games that doesn't suffer from any utilization problems at all, constant 95-99% gpu utilization, so I can get some decent fps. I guess it's personal preference about limited ammo, some people might hate it but others like it because it adds tension. I'm excited about Metro Last Light, the trailers look really good.

Metro pissed me off at the part where you have to go ring the bell or whatever, i just couldn't kill the dog creatures fast enough

lol I remember that, I just used the mounted machine gun to mow down about a hundred of them then sprinted to the bell and to plant the bomb. That part was no where near as annoying as the exploding gelatinous things for me. I probably died 30 times on that section alone.

I definitely need to finish that game. I feel like such a wuss having started it multiple times and always found a way to get frustrated and stop playing it even though I did like it.

you really should finish it, it's awesome. just prepare for a few headaches in some isolated areas. nothing too bad, but then again I've beaten dark souls over 20 times on ps3 so I'm kind of a masochist lol.

Yeah, I hate games that I have to replay a section 20 times to pass. I just quit, because it only leads to frustration instead of fun. Or sometimes if I'm ambitious enough I look for cheats to pass that section. Unfortunately these days it's usually some complicated process to enable cheats.

    Ill never forget metro 2033.

I got to the very end with the exploding jelly things. I was inside something and ran out of ammo there was nothing i could do. not even revert. so I just pretend I beat the game as I was close enough anyways. I guess the fact I played to the end gives a impression I must have liked something. I just hated the lack of ammo I hope they fix that in the next version.

ps I played it on medium with my old gpu and the graphics were still amazing. just one of those games. only other game that I can think of that looks good on medim/low is farcry 2

I did beat Demon's Souls.. I guess I should just get back to Metro knowing it can't be as hard.

id say it should still run high settings on most games at the minute.
if you do want to test it witcher 2 is the most obvious to try it

Currently running a 6990M 810/1000 and I barely get 50-60 FPS in Planetside 2 with all settings set to medium and shadows to low, 1080p.
