My fiance wants to get into gaming with me more since she's going to be in japan for a little while without me and wants something we can do together. She's a picky little thing though when it comes to games, and her laptop is sub par(Sony Vaio VGN-CR410E, 2.0ghz core 2 duo, 3 gig ram, x3100, etc...). She's fond of COD4 on my laptop, but hers can't knock it obviously, I've had her playing medal of honor allied assualt, and she enjoys it (so far this is the genre she likes, she isn't too fond of sci-fi type stuff, at least concerning future/space). Anyone got any game suggestions that will actually run on her lappy, I've been wracking my brain.
Edit: Dear god please no one suggest WoW...no...not gonna happen to us.

Age of Mythology with the Titans expansion if you like RTS type games. 2A373B here BTW.
-
Ahh yeah, actually we were looking at age of empires 3 with the umm...asian expansion (don't recall the name). Ohh awesome, 4N031 here, where you out of?
-
My ex dug Puzzle Pirates, and it is actually fun for me too. She sorta got in to Dungeon Runners... what about America's Army? Im' guessing you are Air Force, but you can play the other service's recruiting tool, right?
I think that might run on her machine. Of course there are also the oldies like CS.
Edit: Btw, if you like strat games, you could check out Sins of a Solar Empire... though that is space/sci-fi... hmm.... -
Cough *WOW* Cough *WOW.
$30 bucks a month saved my relationship.
But since you said no.. maybe Something less MMO? and More Steam related? CS or CS:S -
I was at Edwards for a couple years, and Kunsan prior to that. The Age of Mythology series is terrific. My wife and I still play it regularly. You could also try doing co-op Diablo II... and I wager that you could probably run Battlefield 2 as well, although you'd have to turn the settings down some (which you should do anyway for better frame rates during online play).
-
Haha yeah, America's Army is fun, but I don't think she could keep up, I've good reaction time and been palying for years and still get killed a LOT, she'd get too frustrated XD...she needs to....win....gahh women. Oh and I'm an avid Sins player (me and a buddy of mine), already tried her on that too.
MMO wouldn't be bad, I just can't do the WoW thing :-/ lol, it's principle. Steam would be easy, I would love if it was something off steam. I tried her on CS:S, she didn't last long (too many 'old pros' in that game, new gamers NEVER stand a chance, and don't have the time to get decent).
You see what I mean about picky?! Lol don't give up please XD. -
So much for recommending Portal. But honestly, you're going to have to start somewhere if you intend to play online: there's always going to be "pro's" that you'll have to play against, regardless of the FPS. Another thought is Guild Wars if you're into that kind of thing. It's free to play (no subscription) and should run reasonably well with the proper settings.
-
Lmfao...yeah tried portal, she found it "too creepy". Guild wars has strong potential, I almost forgot about it...thanks. Yeah, she just needs like one good experience to introduce her to it, one game she can get into, then I know she'll open up and want to try more. That's how it always seems to go at least.

Just look for a newbie only server. If Foca is still around they have admins on most of the time and limit the weapon use. IE if you are over 5 kills to deaths to downgrade to SMG's, at 10kills over you limit to pistols. ETC.
-
This...this I did not know.
-
If you're looking for a non-MMO RPG that's similar to Diablo 2 but with a little more variety and graphics, I've just started playing Titan Quest (with expansion and unofficial community patches) with a friend, and I'm finding it fantastic.
-
Oh ya.. Just look for a newbie server and work your way up.
Too bad she isn't into scifi.. Eve online is a great way to kill time just the 2 of you.
I ran out of ideas...
