lol I have noticed that these newer games comming out are starting to require more and more and more and more lol HD space. Are any HD making co. planning on creating bigger laptop hardrives?

Definitions of raped on the Web:

    * despoiled: having been robbed and destroyed by force and violence; "the raped countryside"
    wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

    * Rape is a form of assault involving the non-consensual use of the sexual organs of another person's body. The assailant can be of either ***, as can their target.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raped

I'm going to go with the first one, unless that is one bad-a** HDD.

Well, you can get 1TB desktop harddrives now, so harddrives are growing pretty impressively. (For that matter you can get what, 200-250GB notebook drives. My laptop I bought 8 months ago, had 120GB, and that was more than most.

The 250gb is a nice nitch of price and performance in a notebook. The 300gig drives are still at a high premium, and some of them are even abit taller than a normal drive making them not fit.

Higher-definition content and the growing use of multi-DVD installations means developers don't care about your hard drive...just about making sure you get wowed enough by their latest and greatest that you want their NEXT latest and greatest ;)

But an external isn't exactly optimal for gaming, unless it's an eSATA

It isn't, but my USB 2.0 external HD is perfect for storing all my pictures, movies, vids, and music, and it can play music and movies just fine directly off the external drive, so no need to utilize my precious 100 gigs of laptop HD space, which is reserved for software and games.

Definitely what he said. I'll be doing that once I get my new laptop with my dual external 2.5" 160Gb IDE drives. Even on an IDE interface the space and access speeds are more than sufficient for storing music and shows on my external drives (especially with my current laptop's USB 1.0 interface) :D

WOW! you're the first one to notice this! congrats!!!! lemme know if you figure out that computers need faster processors to keep up with current games!

they come out with new hard drives every few weeks it seems, in the last few months they came out with a 300 gig config on one, plus the raid options... a year ago a 100 gig was good, i think 120 was max.

Especially when I've installed NWN1 on said IDE drive. Forum users complaining about low fps don't know the meaning when you're playing games off an IDE interface and USB 1.0 with a laptop using integrated graphics (830MG if I'm not mistaken).

The low fps has nothing to do with the hard drive, and everything to do with your graphics card. Hard drive speed does not effect in-game performance, only load times, and thus as long as you're not too impatient, using an external hard drive is fine for games.

Still wouldn't run a game off of an external. Don't know about you, but I sure don't want to wait 20 minutes every time I enter a room or cross one of those invisible load points in Oblivion.
