I think a driver crash has corrupted temp sensors! Idle and peak temp jump of 50C!

I had a crash playing crysis with an OC it wasn't a huge OC at 800/900 but now my idle temps at stock have risen suddenly from 49C to 89-95C! I ran ati-tool at stock for 10 mins and it hit 115C and had no artifacts while the neither the air out the back or the heatsink is hot in the immediate aftermath. For reference at 800/900 OC this earlier this afternoon I would hit max 74C after playing hours crysis but at a lower reso. I only seem to get crashes at highest native reso 1680x1050

Is this a corrupt driver issue will I have to totally re-install windows from scratch :(

Both Rivatuner monitor and GPUz report same temps. I also did check the heatsink and it is tightly screwed down still.

Which drivers? The 8.74 leaked drivers have been very stable for me, no crashes or high temps at all.

The new 10.4 mobility ones from ati's site. I just need to know quickly how to fix this :( presently re-installing the same driver. Where to get the preview leaked 10.6?

edit: re-installing the driver makes no difference still the high temps.

I think this further proves the faulty sensor/driver temp readings. Running ati-tool stress test for 5 mins so far. I know these clocks are stable for 15+ mins easy in ati-tool and hours in crysis and I have already hit apparently 124C on core and 123.5C on memory while only warm air is coming out back and heatsink is warm to the touch..still no artifacts whatsoever. Maybe I really should do a fresh install as I also can't refresh the windows aero rating thing as it always gets stuck at tuning windows media decoding since I installed the new ati card.

u might want to wipe out all drivers and try 10.6... 10.4 has been causing a lot of problems , especially for 4000 series...

Where are these lovely 10.6 drivers? Is there a linky?

I will probably dl them and put them to disk to install straight after a fresh install of windows 7 tomorrow morning. Perhaps trying about 4 different drivers in the space of 2 days has messed things up a bit much.

I have just finished installed win 7 from scratch and installed the 10.6 preview drivers and still the temps are reporting wildly high. At present : idle temp is 101C and the memory is 97.5C. What on earth has happened? :(

Shall I just ignore these temps and continue to believe the sensors are messed up? How can the idle suddenly jump from 45-49C to 97-101C and the peak temps just as much this is beyond ridiculous. I guess I will simply continue to game and OC.

Are you sure it's not reporting the temps as Fahrenheit instead of Celsius? : )

Yup. Very sure lol. I am going to try re-flashing vbios as that may have become corrupted somehow, if that doesn't work then I will just not monitor my GPU temps again.
