I'm officially bored with all the games I've been playing for a while.
Though I can't say I don't like a specific genre, I've been enjoying the following:

COD4, Gears of War, GTA San Andreas, GRiD, Diablo II, Pro Evo 2008, Spore Creature Creator, The Sims 2 (heh), Mass Effect, Oblivion, MS Flight Simulator X, WoW, Counter Strike, HL2 + episodes, Portal, Crysis, Starcraft, NFS MW and Pro Street, C&C Red Alert, Alone in the Dark.

    And now I'm bored.

Any other games you guys played and have enjoyed?
Would appreciate it a lot, thanks :D

Im gonna suggest this and probably get laughed right off the forum, but I find Roller Coaster Tycoon Platinum to be a great time waster.

This is what I do when I become bored with any game:

    Walk outside.

Seriously, pick up another hobby. Keep your mind afresh. Sooner or later, you'll want to get back on the computer and play those games that you thought were boring.

    Get one of this games:

    World in Conflict
    Hellgate London
    SWAT 4
    Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)
    Devil May Cry 4
Serious Sam 2 (If you want some stupid fun)

Or you could get some old games like the Leisure Suit Larry series, King's Quest, Warcraft 3 (Not so old :p ) or Alien Vs. Predator.

Pfft. Outside is over rated. Besides, I'll have to run it at a low resolution, with textures on low until I can upgrade my graphics card... I mean, get my glasses fixed.

On the other hand, free anti-aliasing. No jaggies, and every thing runs at 30 FPS unless I get swarmed by NPCs.

If free is a good price, I recommend you check out the tile version of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. Rogue-likes are hard to get into, but once you're in, they're addictive.

I'm back on Age of Empires III: Asian Dynasties and Command & Conquer 3 right now. I'm waiting for Starcraft II and Red Alert 3 to arrive, and Sims 3 sounds interesting as well.

Look who's talking: I wouldn't expect anyone who uses the term 'real world' in that context to spend that much time actually in it.

Yeah I have other hobbies, I have a job, a life, friends etc.

But I'm on vacation another month or so and I want to play some games. I know the second I'll go back to the job I'll look back on COD4 and want to play it some more :D

    Right, so on to suggestions:

Roller coaster Tycoon, meh, I've played Hellgate didn't like it, Swat, Devil May Cry I never got into it, AVP loved it, but I don't think I'll wanna play it again..

I might just give Leisure Suit Larry another go,

    anything else? :D

The Myst games are cool too, the Silent Hill games are also another choice, Resident Evil 4 with the mouse add-on, Fable, Morrowind, Deus Ex, Halo 2, etc. may interest you.

I forgot an important game, Grim Fandango is one of my favorite games of all time, and maybe the best adventure game ever made for the PC.

    Minesweeper is awesome :p

Meaningful relationships with friends and lovers.

Also, exercise at least 25-30 minutes a day. Get your heart rate up!

Both of those together will make all of your games seem twice as fun.

You may need to just find something else to do for awhile. Or try getting the Warhammer 40K pack on Steam if that fails. :D

Actually your eyes can process way faster than 30fps. Probably....

And to be somewhat useful, Team Fortress and Portal are very interesting from what I have heard. If those dont wet your whistle than try some old fashion Windows Solitaire. My best solitaire time is 108 seconds see if you can beat that. Its quite addicting, and once you realized you blew 2 hours playing solitaire you will be amazed at how bored you actually are and then you can go play those games that you wont be bored of anymore.

Yeah, I do all that and my soon to be fiancée is on the other side of the planet.

I'm planning on getting Grim Fandango again. I remember playing it a while ago, but my English skills were not that hot, so I might just enjoy that. Seems as though everybody thinks it's an awesome game!

ok so i'll just add to the grim fandango proposal :D it's a great piece of a game... my gf plays it now (for the 1st time) and simply loves it... and she used to hate all the "pc/console gaming hobbies" :D

but also try yourself in splinter cells... even though there are newer releases in the series i find sc chaos theory to be the best. once you're sure you managed to acquire basic skills in the single player try some lan mp matches :D quake/doom/unreal maniacs usually make somewhat "easy" levels once they play the guards side with higher levels of difficulty if you play with CS and FSW or GR or similar stuff players in the role of a guards' team...

i'd also suggest checking hitman 4 blood money. it seems rather well paced (really good in terms of all hitman titles), far better than the crappy movie :D , allows a lot of improvisations and a lot of unique ideas to be used in the game... and it has simply put just as good if not even better story line than the h2sa.

alternatively to those two titles, there's the sc/h mix with prince of persia in the form of assassin's creed... great game if you love those "base" titles, otherwise may be considered by some as rather dull.

You must be referring to the magnetic poles flip flopping. As much as I hate all the doom and gloom sayers, this one I think actually has some merit. Maybe not the extremes (complete reversal of magnetic poles) but a significant shift. Time to update your GPS guys.

    Honestly: Mount & Blade
    www.taleworlds.com

It's nearing completion but they have been releasing their betas for the last few years, and now its amazing.

Basically, it has the most realistic medieval combat hands down ever. You fight in massive battles (hundreds of people if you like) horse back riding, archery, polearms, axes, swords, shields (which arrows stick in, very cool --- same with people and horses LOL) ragdoll effects. Very, very cool.

You build up an army, join a faction, buy, sell, trade, pillage, take over cities, castles... you name it.

Most addicting game ever, you will not regret it.

Also, there's many a good mod out for it, the best was the lord of the rings mod, which was very well done, had every faction (elves, dwarves, humans, orcs) and tons of new things added... they're working on porting it to the full version (which is coming out in september)

I HIGHLY recommend it. Let me know how you like it.

Don't be a graphics whore, Mount & Blade is amazing!
Plus those screenshots on the main page are from an early beta. They are MUCH better now.

Just download the free trial and just give it a quick try, I swear to you, you will be apologizing after your first battle. BEST combat model in any game ever.
