hey guys thanks for checkin this thread out... :p
any help would be great!!! :D
well im looking at the I9300 and i`ve been doing a lot of reading.. so far my only question (like many others..) is which screen to get with it... the truelife or non-truelife...
The main question i have is will i get good fps playing CS:Source with the 6800vid card and the UXGA screen... and what fps will that be? at a native resolution of 1920x1200...
plus i was just wondering how any other games run with the UXGA screen at native resolution..
    thanx for any help!!! :D

:D and thanx to CCBR01 for the info :D on the fps for the 1680x1050 resolution on CS:Source, but i was just wondering what kind of numbers you`re getting at 1920x1200?
    thanx again!

hey thanks for the plug!!! but first off, if you do get the 9300, uninstall the dell stock video card drivers and install real invidia drivers (i use xtreme-g). I saw only a small increase in cs:s(10 fps), but in unreal tournament 2004, i saw a big increase (70avg fps to 120avg fps)

im not running the newest drivers (82.04) but i am running xtreme-g 78.11. i use tweaksrus.com because they modify the inf the right way for notebooks. Ive tried LaptopVideo2Go.com and had some major trouble with them.

sorry grc but i dont have fear. im thinking about asking for fear or battlefield 2 for christmas. I primarily play CS:1.6, CS:Source, HL2, and stupid condition zero.

well.. those games aren't such a gpu killer... battlefield 2 takes up a notch more gpu power than the halflife 2/source engine. fear needs a whole lot more rendering passes for each frame so expect much lower fps than with halflife 2... especially if you set every high-end feature to max and run the engine at 1920x1200 you will have an average fps of 15 i guess.. but it's worth playing even if you run it at a smaller resolution with not every feature maxed out

halflife2:lost coast is not halflife2! compared to other shooters, halflife 2 is the easiest on the gpu - especially if its competing with bf2 and fear..

    Norty,

Post this is the Hardware forum and fill out the FAQ...it is a sticky in that forum. If you are looking for gaming...go for the I9300 with the XVGA+ 1440x900 native rez..I have about 50 FPS in the game FEAR.'

Please post the FAQ in hardware and we will be able to suggest some different lappy's if your needs are different.

I just downloaded the most recent nvidia drivers from laptop2go.

I removed the installed ones via add/remove programs.

    Rebooted.

Ran the setup file after unzipping.

Error message saying no drivers found that are compatable with my display adapter.

    I'm running an i9300 with go6800.

    You tell me.

i wouldnt recommend drivers from laptop2go. I use the mobileforce drivers at www.tweaksrus.com. Those are some great drivers

ninefoot3, you said that you had an error with your drivers. i had the same thing happen to me a few days ago when i tried to update. i went to the nvidia site and got that latest, but when i installed it saided it couldnt find any compatable hardware, like you. I figured out what seems to be the problem: those drivers are for desktops and like anything else, notebooks are special and need their own stuff. you need to either go to dell's site and get a laptop approved driver set or somewhere else like tweaksrus i guess. hope that helps =)
