the new Intel 915 chipset seems to bring with it a new set of integrated graphics. What is it's performance comparable to now in terms of older video cards? ie. Radeon 7000, etc.

I've managed to get B1942 to run pretty well on a IEG2 on a lower resolution and minus the shading, lower texture, and lower number of bots. and GTA: VC, ran very well w/o lowerng anything.

Just wonderng how much better it will do for older 3d games.

The Intel GME 900 is a fairly poor chipset, as you'll see if you 3DMark it. I'm not sure but I also don't think it's a DX9 native card (I know the Intel Extreme 2 wasn't). Still, it'll run older games like Quake III or Unreal Tournament just fine.

I think it's comparable to an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000.

The Intel GMA900 graphics actually aren't that terrible. I can play HL2 at 1024x768 and everything on low. Most of the game is playable, but occassionally it will slow down to 2 FPS for no apparent reason. That's during parts that don't really look to be more graphics intensive than other parts. The 2 FPS slowdown has happened in like 5 places so far, but I just get through it and pretend it never happened... The average frame rate I get seems to be 15-35 FPS which is playable, but not smooth under 20 FPS. The highest frame rate I've had is 103 and the lowest is 1.
