To be honest I didn't believe the hype until I read this review. Now I want the game so badly.
-
Very impressive ! Glad that I pre-ordered mine
-
I didn't believe the hype until I played the 360 demo
-
Hehe giving Crysis some pressure eh.
-
I was just wondering how "open-eneded" is this game
I really dont like scripted repetitive levels......

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
I usually trust IGN's ratings except the 1 time they gave a game 9.9. I bought the game and was disappointed.
But good deal, looks like its a good game though. -
ShadowoftheSun Notebook Consultant
Haha, what game Forerunner?
I might get this game. Horror games aren't my thing (the original Half-Life was the last horror/thriller game I played) but if its that good it may tide me over until Crysis. -
Awesome!!!
I knew this game would get more than a 9... Just didn't except it to be more than 9.5...
I reckon Crysis would get more than 9 but probably less than 9.7 form IGN...(just a random guess)

"On our gaming PC running a Core 2 Quad processor with a GeForce 8800 GTX, and 4 GB of RAM, it ran very well, with only a few occasions of seemingly random framerate hitches."
This does not bode well. I guess everyone will run DX9 mode or get the Xbox 360 version, since the best visuals are for those who spend $2000 on a (desktop) computer. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
They gave jade empire for the xbox a 9.9. Then later when another reviewer added another view of the game she/he said it actually might have been underrated. It was a good game (much better then KOTOR) but it wasn't a great game.
Edit: well it was a great game but not worthy of a 9.9 or being considered a 10. -

Just wondering how much u guys paid to pre-order. -

Not only was that likely at 1920x1200 in dx10, which is just an insane resolution to start with, but also, the game hasn't been released yet.
the game is basically finished at this point, but they are still working on optimizing the PC version. even if the DVD's are already printed and done, they are still working on optimizing the PC version and patches will come out after the game's release.
more importantly, driver updates will come out after bioshock is released. general framerate issues might be hard to solve, but framerate hitching like they described will most likely be solved in a patch or driver update. -
If the PC version looks better then the 360, and it plays the same but just with PCs better controls(hehe) Wonder if my 8800GTS can play it on my TV.....anyways, seems like it's a good game for sure.
And you're right Jade Empire was good, but not that damn good. -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Did the PC demo ever come out?
-
It wasn't out yet when I left my house for work, which was 1030pmEST, so I am going to say no to it being out. I don't understand why they didn't just release both at the sametime -_-
-
ok so i played this game on xbox 360 (dl'd demo thru XBL) and i played it and yeah it was good and all but in no way whatsoever does it deserve a friggin 9.7!! i mean there are way better games out there IMO that have gotten lower ratings than this game. don't get me wrong though, its a really good and fun game, i just dont think it deserves a 9.7. that is ridiculous. way too high.
just my 2 cents -

-
Btw, they did run it in 1920x1200 @ MAX GFX , and it ran smooth most of the time.. that's awsome!
From what I'm seeing, I think your guy's notebooks with the 8600GT and up could probebly run this at max graphics (no AA) in DX10 1024x768, or med at native rez. -
I for one plan on getting this on STEAM, that way I can just DL it without fiddling with breakable CDs. And I've grown to like steam. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
if you can't choose between dx10 and dx9 that indicates to me that dx10 is the "best" render path (performance wise) or at least equal. Otherwise they would allow you to revert to dx9.
it seems to me, preliminarily only, that dx10 is now offering additional equal (or hopefully slightly better) performance with additional eyecandy as well. -
I heard a lot about bioshock from other people but never really looked into it till now. The game looks really good!!!
Hope my x1600 can handle it. =) -
I found another review done by PC Gamer.

A nice 9.5 from them! -
yeah i played the xbox 360 demo. The graphics are better than gears of war and the environment design is just crazy.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Well in an interview it was confirmed the demo would be released by august 21st, designers said they were doing some last minute tweaking for the pc version.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
its gonna continue to be tweaked like crazy through its release. expect updates to come after its release to smooth out the performance. i can just feel it. they just barely ran out of time for optimizing on deadline.
-
10/10 from Eurogamer
-
This game deserves the high ratings since it's a pioneer in its implament of dx10 and inovative gameplay.
-
This game looks outstanding... I pre-ordered online with a $25 gift card, so I paid like $32 total for it... I absolutely can't wait to get it.
-
u can pre order this over steam... wow
-
I played the 360 demo and the graphics are amazing. The gameplay didn't win me over though. It felt like the guns lacked punch and I ended up shocking/wrenching 90% of the enemies. Its kinda cool how you can hack the little helicopter things though. I really hope there are a lot more interesting plasmids than just the flame and the lightning (I only saw 6-7 slots
). The movie showed a gravity gun like plasmid but thats been done in a few games before. I hope the full game has a lot more meat to it.
I'd give it
9.5/10 Graphics - their amazing
9/10 Sound
7/10 Gameplay - It needed more variety, shock + wrench killed everything.
8/10 Overall - If your a FPS fan, you'll like it. Otherwise, its not going to convert you. I think the Hype is pretty overblown. -
Jeez that will be two weeks worth of gas for me. Hopefully Walmart will give me a good price plus 10%of emploee discaunt -
My Wednesday:
- Bought a new Sony Bravia LCD TV in preparation for Bioshock.
- Played the new Harry Potter game for a while
- Noticed that Xbox Live Store was down... hmmm.
- Noticed the BIOSHOCK DEMO was live!
- Waited a LONG 40 minutes..
- Booted up the demo, my character is sitting on a plane... looks good so far.
- Ooh! A plane crash! everything fades to black...
- Still black...
- A beep.
- Oh my Xbox has 'Red ringed' itself.
- Profuse weeping and cursing.
-
u serious?
-
Yep. That's exactly how it played out.
Unfortunately.
Bloody thing works fine for a year, until literally 5 seconds before I get to play the game I've been waiting for since I bought it! -
Thats ballsy on your 360. How can it have the gall to brick on you just at that moment?!
-
I'm guessing it's because it's been unused for the last few months (Haven't had a TV since moving apartments) I remember looking at it there in it's box and thinking: "You're going to brick on me, aren't you?". I could feel it coming. Specially after seeing all the reports on the net.
P.S: I am not a lucky man. -
I honestly don't think the game should get a 9.7 or even a 9.5 and not a 10 if it doesn't include some sort of multiplayer. Just IMO. I've seen other games slammed for it. 25 hours for $40 with little replay. I'll wait a bit.
-
BTW, join the failed XBOX360 club. I returned mine after it failed the first week of ownership. -
I've had mine red ring a few times, and it's just like, I don't know. It feels useless sending it in. I'd rather wait for the new process/mobo/heatsink to make its way to the market and be the standard. Then I can just buy the elite and connect it to my sweet tv with HDMI. heh.
Besides, I'd rather play Bioshock on my PC anyways -
JUST/FINALLy saw the Bioshack commercial on my TV at home... i got a lil excited
-
Found this random site on another forum... http://bioshockpwns.ytmnd.com/
With audio as well... -
Also, apparently they have fixed the issue in the current revision of the console, so if you get it replaced now, you should be fine. -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
My 360 purchased at launch has had no issues whatsoever, though all the red ring posts do make me nervous, is the 3 year warranty applicable to all 360 consoles?
-
wahhh i would get this but i'm too pansy. I totally freaked out when i tried to play F.E.A.R. Creepy little girl...
-
It doesn't cover any other problems, though. (Your regular warranty might still cover that) -
