Yes finally. The DOX 185.20 drive was released.
Everyone dowload now. If 185.20 was the best performing driver for the 8800m-9800m FX laptops. Imagine how it will be now that it is Doxified.
-
Downloading...
-
have they fixed the sleep issue yet? That's been the only reason i haven't upgraded yet
-
yes they have. Dox found out what was wrong and he has the fix in this driver. It is safe to download.
-
^ Sweet, it's the only reason I rolled back. I can't go sleepless!
-
That was fixed in 181.22 v1.1.
-
So, in terms of performance, how much it increases FPS in games like Crysis? Considering I'm now getting about 20-30 fps with 9800m gts and 179.28 Nvidia notebook drivers. Do you think I can gain something considerable? (like 5 fps maybe?).
-
drivers wont do that, maybe 2 at the most
-
ok, thanks for the answer, I guess I'll keep the 179.28 ones.
-
Lol...Hagen...the only way you are going to get a 5frames per second difference would be to get a new CPU. that is is you have a FX laptop.
-
Would you all recommend this driver? I don't want any issues...
-
I'm going to try them on my laptop, I've been reluctant to upgrade at all because I always get screen flicker problems. Right now I'm on stock 176.24 drivers and its about time I upgraded.
-
I have the 181.22 DOX installed now and they run perfectly. My only problem is that the 185.20 are leaked and may contain bugs and even DOX warns against it. How is the stability of this driver and is the performance really worth it to switch over or should I wait for the next release on some official Nvidia drivers.
-
OK, just updated, no screen flicker, yay. But I have no control over screen brightness
I chose the Performance option.
Anyone else with a similar problem? -
You can adjust screen brightness in the nvidia control panel?
If you are refering to "SmartDimmer" I have not enabled this because when I tried it it doesn't work for everyone. -
Anyone have the issues with not being able to change per-application 3D settings in the CP? (Drop down menus not working)
-
Hey can you enlighten me a little on this subject of video drivers? If they don't increase performance in games then why do people go gaga over new ones?
-
Sometimes they do increase the performance, but most of the times they increase the stability and fix somes bugs with certain games or with certain functions on your hardware. Also, you might get some new features (like PhysX) or hardware compatibility (like HDMI) or you might find out that your laptop is running cooler. But the most important feature is the stability a driver can give you which can as well be an increase on the average fps (like in GTA IV or Far Cry 2).
-
Newer drivers = more performance, but it's usually marginal at best.
-
No, I cant
If I adjust the brightness in the Control panel it just washes the colour away.
But these are good driver nonetheless, went from 174.24 to this driver and 3Dmark score went from 2598 to 2711, thats 113 points
(Dont have my old SM2.0/3.0 scores).
Thanks a million DOX
EDIT: DOX, I love you, lol. Just started up Fallout 3, and it has the res option of 960x600 (Ive been playing at 800x600) and its looks great and how smoothly it runs is insane. Its runs well at 1280x800 even and I may even be able to bump up teh graphics.
And yes I am running it on the laptop in my sig
EPIC.
-
Well haxor jim. 185.20 driver is the best driver out right now. It give the best 3Dmark score and give a little Frames Boost. Prob. Only a few but its something.
And the 181.22 was giving me downclock problems so i switched to this and it fixed my FEAR 2 downclocking problems.
Not all drivers are going to give 5 Frames Per Second boosts in Warhead like 180.70 but they help. -
no offense guys, but this is why I find this driver lurking so stupid, maybe it will give you 1fps more, other then that no dice.
I usually upgrade when Nvidia updates them or something, cause that usually means something big has happened, but other then that i just forget it.
Could be because my laptop has been being fixed since November -
Is your post really necessary?!!?
I know what you mean though, I check whats going on roughly once a month.
I think updating for every new driver takes up too much time to be worth it. -
Actually it kind of does make a difference. I changed from stock 176.XX drivers to DOX's 181.22.1 and i noticed a big difference. My 3Dmark06 score went from ~8600 to 9000 (yes exactly 9000 i was happy lol) and my Crysis Warhead scores improved as well (I don't play on the following settings it was just a test):
Settings: 1680x1050 - All Gamer (Motion Blur off)
2009-01-31 21:26:10 - Crysis
Frames: 18645 - Time: 1297286ms - Avg: 14.372 - Min: 0 - Max: 35
2009-02-01 00:18:38 - Crysis
Frames: 11863 - Time: 749326ms - Avg: 15.831 - Min: 0 - Max: 30 -
My GPU temps are down a few Deg C with this driver but who knows, maybe it is just a coincidence. Either way, Standby / Hibernate modes work and performance is great.
I have a G1SN-AK014C by the way. -
Working great on my T61p.
-
As soon as I get through this next round of 'mid' terms, I shall load these up.
To anyone still uncertain about upgrading drivers: An increased of a few frames per second is negligible; the real improvements come with overall performance. This is one of the problems with artificial score benchmarks. While real-world game testing is subjective, it is the best benchmark. A game may play smoother or not glitch at x or y with a decrease in fps, and I would consider that a successful driver release. -
Well as of now I have stock 176.XX and I am pretty happy with it except I think my 3DMark score is a little low. Would you suggest this driver or the driver straight from Nvidia (178.XX)?
-
This driver is good. nVidia still cannot compete with custom drivers. Unless they are ready to make mobile version of the absolute latest drivers instread of giving us a 179.x series driver.
-
I usually update drivers to find which gives me the best temperatures. Especially now since my laptop fan is malfunctioning
-
How do these compare with nvidia's 179.28 in terms of temperature and gaming stability (OC headroom any different)?
-
I didn't find DOX's driver to increase temperature, mearly smooth everything out hella lot.
-
I am sure that nobody is debating the outstanding effort DOX has put in every driver he modified. Some people need to understand that not everyone is orgasmic for 1-5 FPS in a game with, be it DOX or Wonko, drivers.
I tried many DOX and L2go drivers and they do not suit me. I have performance gains, hats off, but my brightness controls suffer, colours become washed, normal GPU functions are disabled or don't work the way they should. Heck, my U6 does not work properly with Nvidia drivers
, do I expect it to work with modified ones?
In any case, both myself and a few members here should not bully people who want that 1 FPS in a game. Its their call, their money, their laptop.
My first experience with LV2go drivers was when I bought my U6. I was amazed how full HD were playing. People here recommended LV2go and I put them on. Driver sweeper, safe mode, etc. It was not my first BBQ. Then I tried the FULL HD film and it was like a slideshow
. The colours were different than before...acceleration and deceleration on scenes...wasn't pretty
. Anywho, HD playback is important for me so if I find a DOX driver optimised for that with every feature intact, I will be the first to put it on
.
-
i tried these drivers last night on mirrors edge and got a jumpy freeze thing happen every 2 seconds or so, which drove me nuts. i thought it didnt look nearly as smooth as with the 181.22 drivers, so i changed to the 181.22 v1.1. not tested gaming yet though, not had time.
they were in performance mode. -
Ha, im still using 178.13. Maybe it's time for a change
-
yes we can!
still on 180.44.1
IT's here!!! DOX Optimized 185.20
