since its identical to 8600gt physically, would it be possible for 8700 to be in a 15.4 notebook? :D

    I'm very disappointed with 8700gt.
I think it is very possible that 8600gt could be OC'ed to match 8700gt.

Probably not much more, since it's basically the same as 8600M, except that it's frequenzies are higher.

Probably not. It depends on the TDP of this card, and how good the cooling system of the 15.4" notebook is. If the difference betwen the TDP of 8600M GT and 8700M GT is alot, then its probably not possible. No 15.4" notebook I have seen has ever has a 35 Watt graphics card, and the 8700M GT appears to be 35 Watts.

Gaming notebook manufacturers are getting somewhat tired of waiting for nVidia to release an 8800M graphics card. nVidia knows it will take time before they can release such a graphics card, and in the mean time have introduced the 8700M GT. Early reports indicate that it is as fast as a Go 7900 GTX, and most people will be pleased with that. People will simply have to wait until nVidia manages to get the 8800M to market.

I think that might be a typo. They most likely got that info from the graph in this link (from the first post of this thread) which shows that the 8700 is faster than the Go 7900 GS by 27% for Far Cry and 34% for HL2: LC.

Blah. I might just go ahead and get the Sager NP9260 w/SLI 7950 GTX's and have it over with.

That wesbite links just 3DMark scores. They certainly aren't the best way to compare graphics cards, because the are synthetic benchmarks. The best thing to do is to wait for someone to test the 8700M GT against the Go 7900 GS/GTX in games, rather than in 3DMark. Doing it that way will mean that you can see exactly how well the graphics card performs.

I have found that it is very inaccurate to compare cards based on 3DMark scores in general, and even more so when you compare a DirectX 9 card with a DirectX 10 one. The DirectX 10 cards have much higher scores in some cases but it's not the same story when running games.
