Ok so i've been reading about different graphics cards and i'm looking at getting an acer, so i was looking at getting the new 5672 with the x1600 128mb card because i thought it was better than the x1400 card that comes in the other 5672 model. But i just read a post that rated the x1400 higher than the x1600 (I guess the 256mb version, doesnt say). Please clarify this for me, i thought i had it figured out but that post screwed me up big time.. Which 5672 should i buy....

(Only going to list the differences in the two 5672 models)
    1. ASPIRE AS5672WLMi - 2gb RAM, xp pro, x1400 128mb
    2. ASPIRE 5672WLMI-ATI X1600 - 1gb RAM, xp home, x1600 128mb

I don't see how the 1400 can be rated better than 1600. Maybe the 2 GB RAM vs 1 GB RAM makes a difference?

I am pretty sure that hte X1600 is superior. Which yu should buy is up to you, are they the same price? Even so, I would go with the X1600 one, cause thats the only difference in the two that isnt easily upgradeable.
Darrick: The 2GB vs. one GB shoudnt affect the GPU, should it?
smocan: that thread, they do say that te X1600 is better than the X1400. In the beginning, where the X1400 is abpve the X1600, hes asking for them to be ranked. The next post has the actual rankings, and the X1600 is actaully better.

I think in some situations, the available RAM will affect graphics card performance no matter what their dedicated memory is, but don't quote me on that :)

Maybe i 'm thinking the ranking was from worst to best, that was a stupid mistake by me.... sorry for my retardedness.... but honestly, i dont know which computer to go for... i really wanted pro, and the price has the x1600 version around 100 bucks more

The X1600 is vastly superior to the X1400; for more information, refer to the Mobile Graphics Card chart at the top of this forum. Other than that, it looks like you could use some direction so perhaps we could help you find a suitable notebook if you completed the FAQ in the What Should I Buy forum.

From what I have heard about Acer junkware and stuff, you probably want to do a clean reformat and reinstall when you get the laptop. When you do so, just use a copy of Windows XP Pro. Also the only feature different between Home and Pro is the Remote desktop connection (I may be wrong on this though).

any copy of pro will work as long as your using a valid key, doesnt matter what disc you use as long as its the same version, a home key wont work with pro for example
