That's exactly what Gizmodo editor Adam Frucci got to do. He played Portal, Call of Duty 4, and Gran Turismo on Panasonic's upcoming 150" plasma. Just imagine playing on a plasma that big. A 150" TV is somewhere between five to ten times+ (not sure exactly, but I know that it's a lot bigger than three 50" TVs) bigger than a 50", believe it or not, because of the way that they measure displays. Here's some pictures from Gizmodo:

Just imagine playing on that. Before you get ready to max out all of your credit cards, keep in mind that it weighs 1700 pounds and takes 7kW of power to run it. Also keep in mind, that you'll probably need to take out a second mortgage on your house to afford it. Doesn't sound as good now, does it? The quality of the display would definitely put a projector to shame, but all HDTVs do. He's going to post a bigger article and probably some videos tomorrow, that should be interesting.

Why not use a projector that can project a 150" image? Should be cheaper and of course far more portable.
Though I think the image quality of projectors in general is still worse compared to HDTVs? I'm not sure about this. -
I just use a 14" screen and mash my face within 2" of the screen and get the same effect.
-
Why not crisis also?
I game on a 24" and have to get back 4 - 6 feet to be able to see everything -
now you cant run it on 150in res (16000x9000 maybe) so I'd use a projector
-
-
I play at 1080HD on a 10-foot screen with projector (in our home theater), definitely makes gaming in general a whole different experience.
-
The 3rd picture looks blurry, I suppose blowing up the image to that size makes you lose quality.
-
Yikes!
I could see it now, my wife would stick that on the bedroom wall with
an ocean screen saver running 24│7 -
Talk about seasick.
-
^^ ^The TV is so awesome the waves it makes shakes the room.
-
The photo of the racing sim looks unnatural due to it's size. My brain would hurt and I'd likely vomit thereby ruining a perfectly good 150" plasma screen. :/

I read the console versions are rendered only in 600P.

I have a 37" 1920x1080 and sit about 3 feet away its perfect you can see 98% of the screen if you look directly ahead but the other 2% lets you get immersed into the game by taking up your perifial vision.
Makes the game much more life like and involving, couple it with a good sound system of course.
A projector is a better way of having a 150" screen for sure, plus surround monitor setups or something like the "jdome" would be more immersive than just that one big plasma.
Anyways this beats that 150" Plasma - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzfJUHVrWhs
Wii is more involving too making you feel more in the game.
Here is that odd contraption I was talking about the jdome - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl_BVaUGaxg -
wait a minute....you mean some people DONT have a 150" tv? thats madness. i dont know how i'd live without one

Only prob with the projector is the shadow -
-
And I still use a CRT for my xbox 360... :[

I wouldn't want that personally, I think my 50" 1920x1080 LCD I use for my main PC gaming is enough as it is. Sure, it makes gaming just SOOO much more engaging, but it'll put strain on your eyes and cause headaches if you use it too long and/or are within 10 feet of it.
About the electric bill being high, I don't know anything about plasmas, but my TV takes a rated wattage of 270w/h which is actually much less than my desktop, or in perspective, 3x more power than my Sager notebook.
btw,, what's the latency with using a projector? The benefit of an LCD or plasma is the obvious perfect clarity, and response time, but what's it like using a projector? Is there a noticable delay when using a mouse, or playing FPS's? -

Gizmodo added a size comparison with a 50" plasma:
It takes nine 50" plasmas to fill up the 150" display and you still have some room left... -
We are so close to getting a Holodeck!
-
..wow. That would be amazing. Think i would rather just have a projector though.
-
Im fine gaming on my 17 inch 920x1200 res laptop
-
1920x1200 res****
-
7kW!! That's almost enough to power a house!
-
although i think 40" is good enough. -
that is sick!!!!!!!!!
-
Wow, that 150" T.V is awesome! I'd love to get one, and I'd really get one... if I had enough money, if I had enough space in my room for it, and... if I had put my Solar Power system up yet...
