I got really impressive 3DMarks with my current setup! Here it is:

    Dell Vostro 1500
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80GHz
    1GB of RAM (I know...)
    Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB DDR2

And these were the results.....hell, check out the screenshot

    or the attachment.

Do you think it would go up much if I added one more GB of RAM?

I'm more impressed you did that on battery power than anything else. Would the score be the same for you had it been running on AC?

I tried both, but the difference is minimal. I mostly play on the train almost all the seats with outlet plugs are taken (I still don't get why they don't put them everywhere) so I benchmark always on battery power.

I'm interested to know how stable that is.

Here's my current best, I'm trying again with 169.09.

Seems as though your clocks are "conservative". I think you've got some room left.
4765 uber stable as far as I can tell. (Opened and played BF2 for a bit).
Temp was @ 54 C just after the test. Sorry I didn't get that in the screenshot.

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread, just didn't want to make a new one and waste bandwidth. Anyways, new "stable high".
    4838 @ 630/540/1260.
Don't think I'll push it any more.

3dMark06 is a bit overrated IMO. Some D901C users are hitting over 11k at 1280x1024. When the 8800M GTX's in SLI come out I think they might be able to break 20k.

Anyway here is my 'best' :p My poor old notebook is so behind the times. I mean it's over 6 months old now!! Ah the bleeding edge.... :p

The highest ive hit so far is 4726, but i think i'd do even better if i made the leap to xp

The 8600M GT benchmarks should be in 1280x1024 resolution.

    Should be, can't.

A lot of the smaller screen laptop owners only have 1280x800 resolution. They can't do 1024.

Technology is amazing - my single 8800GTS scores a smidgen under 8000 at 1280x1024, with my whole system at stock clocks. With a high-end processor like Wu Jen has, I could probably best his dual highly-overclocked 7950GTXs with my single 8800GTS at stock. At least we know Moore's law is still strong at hand.

lowlymarine why even compare a 8800GTS I assume you mean desktop right? To dual 7950GTX? Your card kills his SLI setup in games. You have far more shader power than his cards, not to speak about your 320bit wide bus compared to his 256bit wide bus. Just my two cents.

just FYI, my system runs as stable as it can be, no artifacts, no nothing, and as for temp, in normally doesn't go over 70 degrees. Although it does go a little higher when playing Gears of War with everything max at 1280*800...

Great. Now I have to buy an external monitor just to make my 3dMark06 scores comparable to others.

Or would you rather everyone else run at your resolution so that you don't have to? :p

Kinda like reporting your car's 0 to 50 mph results when everyone is reporting 0 to 60 mph.

Wu Jen, sorry to dissapoint you, but even SLI 8800M GTX won`t go over 20k. And who cares, it`s real life frames that make the difference. In my book, a system that can run ANYTHING over 60fps, at high or highest settings is the winner.
