Installed these 2 mods and wow what an improvement! I never finished the game before (half of game completed) but now I will, these mods really bring out the visual effects and made a huge difference. These mods are the "natural mod" http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?postid=106921 and a mod that lets you run DX9 at very high settings (DX9 usually only has high as top setting) http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=491 These 2 mods made the game much more enjoyable. I 'am running the DX9 very high setting at 1440x900 and getting between 14 to 25 FPS which seems low but plays very well, no stalls or slowdowns at all. Give these 2 mods a try, I'am sure you'll like it. ...................................................................................................................................................................................![]()

Now if someone made a mod that could just take the sting of unspeakable racism out of the game, we might be on to something!

Can you kill them tortoise?

The problem with using that one mod, which forces everything to "very high", is that it absolutely kills performance. It's not necessary to have everything on very high . . . you are better off making your own configuration. I played around with a lot of settings for the longest time before I was able to get the game looking like I wanted.
Go here:
http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html
Go through all of those settings and make your own settings.
What I did was make my own system.cfg file (which the game looks at when it loads up, whatever settings you have in there will be applied), and also modified some of the CVAR groups, which is pretty much what that one mod you linked is doing. See, in the CVAR groups are all the variables that define "low", "medium", "high", and "very high". It's pretty easy to force very high with a little copying + pasting. I bet you could find the very high CVAR groups (they are text files) uploaded somewhere. I forced very high for a couple of things, but left things like volumetric, shadow, and shader quality on "high".
I doubt you are going to be able to have much, if anything, on "very high" with your card. Maybe textures, but nothing else. 22 FPS is not very playable. Shoot for 28 or so average and make settings that will allow you to play at that throughout the game. Performance in the beginning level of the game is higher than the rest of it. -
Can you apply the "natural" mod to the demo?
-
I should of mentioned you'll probably would need to have a 8800gts\gtx to run Very high settings DX9, I use DX9 Very high at 1440x900 and the game plays great I would have never guessed the FPS were so low it plays that well and the game looks fantastic. Anyone can use the Natural mod. I could always drop down to 1280x800.

I will give this a shot
I have had my lovely FX since thursday
Crysis is a bliss
AMAZING! STOCK DRIVERS GOT ME ALL HIGH AVG 20FPS!
BUT
then after installing 167.45 drivers it goes into DX10 mode and High drops to 16 avg
But... I will try these mods out and change it to DX9 and see what happens -

You should really reduce those settings to get it in the 25+ range because Crysis is not very playable in the teen FPS range. It is beautiful on very high though . . . even though high is not that far off visually. I'd say when you are walking around the FPS should be in the high 20s at the very least if you want it playable when things start blowing up. Use that tweak guide I linked to optimize settings, it is best to make your own.
For your machine, I'd recommend not keeping anything at very high, reduce to high. Some less-noticeable things you should turn down to medium, but definitely keep shaders at high as it really makes a big visual difference. You should be able to keep the 1440x900 resolution if you reduce the settings a bit. -
Your at the same stage of the game as I am
If thats the middle then this game is WAY too short... but im sure its not *spoilers... lol*
I am currently updating Steam/Garrys mod since 4 hours now... WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY UPDATING!?
When I started Garrys mod it had a new circle design loading page and stuf... but its been downloading 200+ mb now... my internet isnt super fast but this is taking forever! And its only at 66%
So Crysis will have to wait until tomorow... natural mod will be the one I will try... and some tweaks too...
Do you use the Crysis 1.1 patch? Please let the 1.2 patch make FPS increase significantly *pray pray pray* -
Looks good but dx10 looks better. Whatever you like though. Its all about the user. I can run everything on med with an 8700m gt o/ced
-
Atleast 24 FPS... all movies have that framerate so thats the minimum to comply with the law of persistence of vision
-
-
That is because the game was programmed initialy for DX9.. -
use the cuban's tripple C pack 1.31 installer. Go to incrysis.com/forums and go to tech help. THere is a 78 page thread on this mod. It makes the game gorgeous and improves performance. Its an all custom config. Very good work they put into it.

hey...i'm korean
now i feel bad

The only reason people are NOW pointing out the racism is because of yahtzee
Besides, i never noticed hte racism before....they are just nitpicking at this point.
-
I agree with Chaz. I've already beaten the game aswell already so take his advice. Crysis gets more demanding as the game advances. The early levels are no indication on how it will perform in the later levels. Expect a 10-15 FPS drop by the end of the game. Trust me on this one.
Sometimes the gameplay got so bad that I had to change my settings from all medium to all low in order to get some decent fps's. No point in going into a dogfight with 10+ enemies only to have it drop to ~5 fps and die instantly because it lagged like crazy.
P.S. You die so fast on Delta it isnt even funny. -

While Yahtzee's accurate, I was griping about it when the demo was around. Probably because I have friends that are Korean.
It's not a nitpick, and it's actually pretty interesting taken in a sociological context. Remember that this game was developed by a German developing house, so you have to wonder what they really think of us when they paint Americans in these broad strokes, as well as how heinously insensitive the game is to Koreans.
I mean, unless you think crap like "Die, yankee dog!" is harmless, and the way they just keep saying "Koreans" over and over again most of the time as opposed to even making the distinction of "North Koreans."
I'm not suggesting everything needs to be politically correct, but there was no real reason to use North Koreans in it. It doesn't improve the experience in any way, and just feels crass and dated.
