Ok, I have two notebooks, my HP in my sig and a convertable tablet, of which I never make mention of because I don't ever use it except for school. However, I've had the tablet for much longer than the HP, and on the tablet I have Call of Duty installed. Because the tablet can't play CoD for ****, I'd like to install CoD on my HP, but I can't find the game discs..........

So is it possible to copy the CoD game folder installed on my tablet's HDD, burn it onto a couple CD-ROMs (my tablet doesn't have a DVD burner), and just dump that data and folders into my HP's HDD (of course with all the files where they should be in proper set up)? Or am I screwed, and have to buy/download another copy of the game? I'm not kidding, I do own the game, I just can't find my discs, and I want to play the game's multiplayer at higher than 30 fps (MP doesn't require the disc to run) >_<

You have to run the installer, because the game has to link to system DLLs and store other info...most of it is in the registry. Copying the registry values isn't a good idea either, as some of those links might not be valid on the new computer because of different hardware and drivers.

I'm not too sure how to help you here...if you still have the CD key (might be stored in the game files) you could contact the company and request a media replacement order.

If you still have the registration key, you might be able to do it.

Some games do have download sites, where you can download the game (I don't mean Gametap or anything like that). A google search of the game name plus the word download could possibly turn up some interesting results.

If you've lost the registration key, you could contact the developer and they may provide the key. You usually need some registration info like email address you used to register.

    Hope this helps.

(I remember the "good ol' days" when you bought a game and that was it. As long as you had the files, you were fine - no registration keys needed. You could zip up the CD as a backup and unzip/reinstall if needed.)
