Increas your gaming performance with programs?

I hard about tons of different pograms that will increase your comuter speed. XP smoker is one example. My question is does it work and if so how much more power do you get? I mean how much better performance

 

No. Follow some tweak gudes. That's all the programs do (that, and steal some passwords).

 

clean up your notebook and update your drivers. there's only so much you can squeeze out of your hardware.

 

Most of those programs are snake oil that do more harm than good.

 

with out changing hardware there are very few tweaks you can do to make a difference in performance. most "tweaking" software does simple things that anyone can do if confident withn a computer.
if you want the best performance out of your computer clean your registry often, defragment your hard drive, download crap cleaner to clean your crap , (internet files), if you want the more performance try not to install to much programs on your os, this is what slows down your computer not music and videos. also try not to make your hard drive exceed 90 percent disk capicticy.

STAY AWAY from performance enhancing drugs...er I mean programs.

Almost all of them are total crap, often they are filled with viruses and spyware. In other words, they will slow your computer down rather than speeding it up, all in addition to stealing your identity or money and landing you in the poor house.

Defrag your hard drive every so often (free, in windows), use CCleaner (example of a good utility), make sure all of your drivers are up to date, software is up to date, games are up to date. After that, you want to make sure that un-needed programs are uninstalled and only programs you actually need start up with windows.

I don't see how a piece of software can make my hardware go any faster. Really. It's like those crappy adds on the web that want me to download their computer repair software. It'll only break things further.

Just say No.
