If I'm not mistaken, I remember seeing a review of this game booster software done by Notebookreview.com awhile back, and I just thought "meh, what a ridiculous gimmick".

Anyway, having come across it again doing an online search and since having downloaded and installed the free version, I tried to search for the review again on this site, but I've come up with nothing. Can someone link me to the article if there, infact is one? I would like to buy the full version that has the internet optimization tweak.

Has anyone tried the full version? And what kind of results do you get from the internet optimization?

By the way, having installed and run the free version on both my game laptops, it does seem to simplify and take the complication out of trying to decide what processes could be disabled without running into problems, which comes in very handy if your not sure how to go about doing it. It also gives you more RAM to work with and increases CPU usage.

Those are all old links. I'm looking for the review of Game Booster 2.2 and more specifically, a review of the internet optimization feature in the paid version.

Anyway how'd you find the links? On my end the search on this forum is busted and can't find those if I search "game booster".

It never worked here. Performance is the same with or without gb, i even tried a fresh windows installation.
And i have the paid version, network optimization doesnt do much, same perf as before.

Thanks, I was gonna dish out the $5 for the paid version to try the Internet Optimization just so I get better pings and less latency in Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Anyway Game Booster free isn't so bad, since it is kind of a chore and confusing disabling processes manually, especially if your not so experienced doing it, but game booster does it automatically and restores the default with just a click.

Also, I've searched online for free internet optimization software, are these safe to use? And can someone recommend a good user friendly one that won't FUBAR my computer or network settings.

I just typed in Gamebooster ..

Most Pc users should know what services are safe to disable etc If ur unsure , there's many guides online .. gamebooster is useless , stay clear.

Don't assume to much. I've been a long time PC user and I do know how to manually disable processes, but not all running processes are clear to me as to what's needed and what is not so important to be running. I'm pretty sure alot of PC users don't know also. Game booster does simplify this and gives a description of what each process does when you place the mouse cursor over it before deciding to disable the process.

And well, after you've tried the free version... has this software given any boost to your games?

We know the software disables some processes, though the main issue is that this becomes irrelevant once you have enough free RAM (say 4+ GB).

hmm, I think I'm having more fun trying to tweak my notebook just to see how I best I can run my games.

And you were never a noob? I'll have you know alot of people who come to this forums are noobs, infact the majority are and those that never heard of this software and stumbles across this thread will be grateful...

Not quite sure yet need to do more testing since I do have a brand new notebook with i5 and GTX460m with 4GB ram

There are plenty of guides to tweaking your settings and windows services for "noobs" without having to create new topics in NotebookReivew. A simple google search is enough.

Disabling services got nothing to do with internet optimization .... Don't get things mixed up.

Hey guys, no need to fight. This is a forum for discussion, not insults.

jacob808: It may be that your approach to this software is about the problems you've had recently with BF2 BC. But in any case I hope this advice can help: make thread titles according to your question or discussion. In this case the thread is called "Increase Performance for free!", which implies excitement (use of the ! mark) and thus it is true. Yet you are actually asking for info if this software is good, and thus confusses people. In any case to give the thread a good use you can try to test this software, report you laptop specifications, and let us know if it worked for you or not.

Dead2th3world: No need to be so harsh. Everyone has the right to ask, and everyone of us has been inexperienced in many topics at some point of our lives.

The bottom line here is this: this software doesnt do miracles nor boosts performance.
Unless youre running 2gb of memory, 200 background apps with an heavy antivirus, this is completely useless.
Always keep your os fresh and slim with no crapware installed,i dont use antivirus therefore i dont have problems with them too.
Thats your gamebooster,an healthy os with nothing crap installed that is unuseful.
And no need to fight, everyone states their opinion,so everything i write is imho.

If you're going to post software of this sort and especially for the benefit of inexperienced users, you would do well to post a guide with proof of its benefits.

This software can potentially do more real harm than alleged good. Especially for the inexperienced.

Hopefully they will steer clear of this software and instead take the time to learn about Windows services and which are safe to alter for their particular set up and usage patterns.

That said this thread is closed.
