Does anybody know how much costs a dedicated video card in relation to the rest of components? Could it be that the thermal requirements are very strict?
I'm asking this because I see lots of relatively high end computers with a gma950. I know there's a majority of business consumers who couldn't care less about the graphics card, but there's many of these who are also gamers as well as all the people who actually need a dedicated graphics card.

wha t do you need?

The other reason you often see integrated graphics on an otherwise high-end notebook is battery life. A dedicated GPU is a major power drain, to the extent that you'll rarely see battery times over three hours without some serious tweaking and/or underclocking... which kinda defeats the purpose of having a high powered GPU in the first place.
For business use, as long as it can run powerpoint and a couple of DVDs while on the road, battery life and durability are far more important than high powered graphics. -

The cost of putting in a dedicated video card most likely varies depending on the manufacturer, but it is still more expensive. Looking at the Compal HEL80 (Go7600 256MB) and the HEL81 (GMA950), the one with the dedicated card is about 10% more expensive.
I got the pricing off of www.PowerNotebooks.com.
