Well my mom wants a laptop. She wants to be able to game on it HOWEVER she found one that she could get a lot sooner but I have a feeling it isn't much of a gaming machine. If it is this model she won't care. It's an inspiron 15 at the cheapest configuration. What kind of games SHOULD it handle?

    X4500HD: Solitaire, Minesweeper.

ATI Radeon HD4330: Most games on low settings.

Come on, give x4500HD some credit, it surely can handle games more than just minesweepers/solitaire!! Games before 2006 should be able to run fine on x4500.

I picked up the Inspiron 15 (Purple) w/ X4500 IG for my 6 year old son. It plays his older educational games, Purble Palace, and web-based Flash type games such as the ones on Treehouse, National Geographic, and PBS Kids just fine. It's also great for DVD watching.

So if your mom is the Bejeweled-type of gamer then it will be fine. But if she gets hooked and decided to go all out on World of Warcraft or something else more 'elfy' or 'cute gnomey' then she'd be looking for something better. :)

Get a studio 15 minimum... inspiron 15 sucks for playing games ... other than old ones....

The day she gets hooked on WOW is the day that hell freezes over. that is so far beyond her interests. I know she can live without the spongebobs if needed but Bejeweled is like her favorite game in the world. It's good to know she will be able to handle that.

Seriously, what computer can't play Bejeweled? My cell phone can play Bejeweled. I'm pretty sure that the newest version of the abacus can play Bejeweled.

The Inspiron 1545 is perfectly capable of the types of games the OP's mother plays, even with the Intel 4500MHD. If she upgrades to the ATi 4330, it will handle newer, more demanding games as well. Fun fact: the Studio 15's ATi 4570 is identical to the Inspiron's 4330, just with higher clocks.
