When I ordered my Dell on 11/29, I opted for the 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS. At the time, I believe it was $75 to upgrade from the Intel Integrated.

But now when I check out the configuring of an Inspiron, I notice that the 128mb Nvidia card is standard/included. Even better, there's an instant savings of $50 on the 8400m. (Still costs $150 to upgrade to 8600m).

As my laptop hasn't been shipped yet - it will be on 12/14 - I'm wondering if I should call and see if they could change my order? After all, doesn't seem fair that I paid $75 (or I think it was $100) for something that, just a few days later, is included automatically.

Or maybe it would be best to wait until another date to upgrade the video card myself? I have read that Dells can have their video cards upgraded, but I'm not sure the process for such. Is there that big of a difference between the two cards? I do plan to use the laptop for gaming, games such as Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines and Oblivion.

I'm pretty much undecided on what to do, thus, seeking advice =) Thanks in advance.

You can't upgrade the video card, it's on the mobo(yes its still dedicated).
I'd op for the 8600M GT if I were you.

Go for the 8600 gt, you won't regret it, and you actually can remove the video card for the 1520, dell sells the 8600 on their site for laptops refurbished but they cost around 200l.
