Does it works? My friends computer is running out of space, so can I install a game onto a DVD and he can insert the DVD and play the game? Without putting any file onto his computer? Or maybe just the settings and saves? Thanks

It's not going to work. Either free up some space, move some files like music or pictures to a DVD, or buy an external HDD.

A game has to have install directories and such in your actual system to run. There is no way to get it to run from removable media

    DVD drives are too slow.
Even a USB 2.0 external HDD is faster so get your friend to invest in a external HDD.

External hd are slow, get a larger internal hd , clone the existing one to it with a USB enclosure , then replace it.

If that's too troublesome, if your friend has eSATA port on the notebook, get an external drive that uses eSATA.
