I read somewhere in another internet forum that installing games in the C:\Program Files for Vista is a bad idea. It was also mentioned that you should install games in a separate "Games" folder/directory when using Vista.

Is there any truth to that? If so, what advantages are there in doing so?

    Thanks.

I really, really don't think it matters where you install games on Vista.

For about 3 - 4 years I have always installed to Programs instead of C:\Program Files when the installer gives me the option. That way I know what I installed on purpose vs bloatware & etc that came on a system :) .
But have recently noticed Vista (SP1?) does not like it; on Startup, gives me a warning the folder should be renamed. Other than that I have found no problems with placing installed items in a designated folder
You will be able to find all gaming files easier than sorting through C:\Program Files. Suppose you want to quit gaming, maybe just delete the folder/dir instead of running uninstall, then run a Reg cleaner which probably would help anyways!

if you have two hard drives i would say to separate OS and games into different drives so you don't lose everything when you reinstall the OS, but i've heard nothing like you mentioned.

I've never heard that, but I always install them on my second partition.

I install on separate partitions to prevent fragmentation.
