So the minimum memory for my 4500mhd is 128mb and the maximum is 1341, but the card is only using 17... Why would this be? I'm running Windows 7 32 bit and the graphics drivers and inf files are all up to date, so why am I not getting the performance I should be?
-
Isn't it a good thing that it is using so little memory?
Is there a particular task that you are unhappy with the performance of your 4500HD? -
I thought the 4500MHD automatically reserved something like 128MB RAM and the rest it dynamically allocates?

What notebook, operating system, and drivers are you using? 17MB seems a little weird.
-
I'm using the Toshiba Satellite L505-S5984, Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit), the newest graphics and chipset drivers (don't remember the exact numbers).

Either way LFD 2 is not designed for an IGP. Not sure what the problem could be though.
-
The problem isn't drivers or inadequate memory, the problem is that the memory bus used by Intel's IGP can't push the amount of data that LFD2 needs to run, period. I would recommend installing it on a capable machine, ideally anything that meets the minimum requirements.
Also, if the 4500MHD is recorded to be using less than minimum, then why is this a problem? The IGP dynamically allocates RAM for use as video memory so less is better when it isn't needed.

Have you run the first L4D on this laptop and did it run ok?
I dunno, system requirements aren't very steep for L4D o L4D 2 - P4 3.0GHz and Shader Model 2.0 video.
I have the first L4D. I'll try to run it on my GMA 4500MHD notebook with a greatly underpowered CPU and see how it fares.
The 4500MHD isn't that bad. Although you'll have to choose low settings and low resolution.
Go here and get the 15.6.2.1986 drivers. Be sure to uninstall your drivers first:

Check the BIOS and see if everything there is set up ok, there might be a setting for the amount of memory to locate to the IGP.

I think that the 17mb may be the aperture size. But I'm not entirely sure... My old GMA950 had an 8mb aperture size, then it dynamically allocates memory on the fly according to driver demands.

I thought the GMA 4500MHD had something like either minimum 64MB or 128MB system RAM allocated, and then dynamically adjusted to needs. Mine shows 64MB with GPU-z.
