It should have enough power to run those games.

Its really funny..........Why dont you look in laptop that come with standered Nvidia cards like 9300m GS which is entry level card and support more games then the 4500MHD......The range of price for laptop with nvidia 9300M GS is going to cost you the same price as the one with 4500MHD...

Think about it because the one with NVidia is going to allow you in future upgradebility and other one lacks

you cant upgrade either. the 9300gs also consumes significantly more power, and produces significantly more heat than a 4500MHD. if he dosent need the little extra performance the 9300 provides, i'd recommend against it.

4500MHD is a very capable IGP. you wont have problems with games 3 years or older, although for some titles you may need to run on medium

You cannot upgrade the GPU, period.

The Intel card offers a cooler running notebook and longer battery life, the nVidia offers a little more power. That being said, 3 year old games won't have a problem on either unless it is something like FarCry or Crysis.

What do you guys mean by period no upgrade is possible......Hello guys nvidia GPU 9300M GS is stand alone mxm type 2 card for 15inch notebooks mainly and this particular card is upgradeable...

I changed the card from 9300m GS to 9700M GTS for a friend of mine who had MXM type 3.0 slot without any issues...just took me less then 2mins to get the job done for him on site.....

So, yea if you are gonna use vista aviod intel cuz then they will not support games older then 2yrs from today and you might have to change the program compatibility to get them run on intel but sometime they wont even after that......Thats how intel chips are.........But you wanna aviod compatibility issue then go with nvidia and nvidia chips will allow you to play games even 8yrs older from today with or without compatibility issue.........Also, keep in mind every two years completion the support from intel for drivers end....Its always like that.....but nvidia its totally different you get product support for long time with new drivers being created to enhance your performance.......

    Perioddddddddddddddd................

Not all notebooks are on the MXM standard - AFAIK, only Acer, Sager/Clevo, and a few rare HP and Lenovos still have the darn things.

I think he was referring to Far Cry 2.

Also, not all notebooks are MXM-compatible, despite using the same graphics cards. Some notebooks with the 9300M have the MXM design, some have it soldered to the motherboard.

I can personally attest that Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source both run quite well on the 4500MHD at 1280x800, if that helps at all.

Heh, my notebook has an inverted MXM slot (so that you cant properly cool a non asus card) and is also believe to be pinned proprietary but I don't think anyone knows that part for sure. Some people have devised cooling plates for other models that use the inverted slot to run other cards.

The intel 4500MHD should run pre fear era games, original far cry uses less power than fear, tigerwoods should easily run. WHe i was originally shopping for a business notebook looking around the 4500MHD seemed like a slight step up from the cruddy 6100 GO i played far and doom3 on in 640x480 with low settings.

When I play counter strike 1.6 at lower settings with 4500mhd, the game is pretty laggy. Fps is about 10-40, mostly 30. That really surprise me cuz originally I thought the fps should stay at 100 all the time, even in the smoke. I run 3dmark2001 benchmark also, scored about 4200, which is not better than the oldest card geforce 440.

I get better frames than that with Counter-Strike: Source. It's a newer game, but also better optimized for the PC, so who knows, it may actually perform better.
