Gma 950 is enough good for all kinds of video formats.

    but I'd recommend:

    for best performance
K-Lite Codec Pack (all needed codecs) - http://www.codecguide.com/

    players:
InterVideo WinDVD 7 (best for DVD) or BSPlayer

video lan client is also good to play any kinds of video and audio formats without codec installation.

First, Touch that K-Lite Codec Pack and die! It clutters your system up with codecs you dont actually need..and programed like crap too.

download CCCP at http://www.cccp-project.net/ . Its the one and only download youll ever need to watch your movies, and even includes 2 players, zoom and media player classic.

Second, if your used to downloading high quality xvids, then yes, dvd's no longer look much better. IMO they allways had a little more of a blurry look to them than TV, I think because of the interlaced to progressive conversion. Also because our monitors are several resolutions higher then dvd/tv, when you blow it up, pixles get their edges blurred.

I've been using K-Lite for years and I'm still alive.
    How surprising...

Yes the quality of DVDs is not so high but that doesn't mean that it should be crappy.
