Why not pick something in between like the P8600?
-
Please at least tell us the specific notebook you're configuring.
-
It depends on the type of games you are going to play. What system or specs are you looking at?

Also, tell us what other programs besides games you are going to run.
I can tell you right now the difference between those two processors is not worth $300. -

What model is your Lenovo's 2.4ghz?
The 5793 doesn't support the new chipsets (Like the P8400, P8600, etc). So if your Lenovo's has the Santa Rosa chipset it would work. -
If it's a T7700 or T8300, either would work; P8600 would be a no-go. That's a good idea.
-
I'd go with the cheaper of the 2 and if it's not powerful enough for you, hit up ebay. i think the X7800 is well below 300$ now...
-
or even this if you find you want th more powerfull... its less than upgrading on the purchase....
-
i have a T series chip i believe.... i have a T61 from a year ago
-
I'll check it out..
EDIT: You have the 15.4 inch or 14.1?
Well either way, if its from a year ago, it has to be the T7700 or T8300, because the newer ones weren't out yet
You should be good to go.
