    Intel GMA 3100 for just basic apps + DVD

    Sorry if this isn't the right forum but....

    I found this which I really like for the price. I would have already bought it but I'm not too sure about the Intel GMA 3100.

    I looked at a chart between some of the differences between the 3100 and x3100, but to be honest I'm not entirely sure what they are. I'm basically going to just use basic apps and be watching movies, absolutely no games.

    Does it really matter for me if I just get the 3100? Will Vista look slightly worse on a 3100 compared to x3100? Anything I should know about?

    There's no such thing as a 3100. They're all x3100's.

    And yes, it'll be fine for those tasks.

    Yes it will run those tasks fine but you will get better playback capabilities if you have even a very weak dedicated GPU.

    If you do not really care about that then just go for x3100 and save money

    Wrong, the GMA 3100 is a desktop chip.
