which graphic is better? seems like Gateway LT3100 is getting the ATI X1270 w/ AMD L110 1.2GHz cpu. right now i have the acer aspire one ao751h-1948, if it is better, i might return it and get the gateway..

I was just going to ask about the benchmarking of this new impressive netbook from Gateway. I've found no reviews or benchmarks so far. A 1.2GHz Athlon 64 should be significantly faster than a 1.6GHz Atom CPU. Sorry but no clue about the GPU.

Here's the official details for the LT31000:

hopefully that LT3100 will force some of the other netbooks to drop their prices some.

Unless your return window is about to close, wait for the reviews to come out. All these specs are just numbers on a piece of paper until the reviews start hitting. :)

Actually I found this benchmark comparison to an Intel GM965/X3100 and an ATI X1270
    http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?cid=14&id=2256&pg=7

The X3100 beats it pretty soundly. :(

Granted the CPUs are different so it's not the best of benchmark comparisons.

that benchmark won't really tell us anything about this x.x, this system uses 533MHz rams, a much slower cpu, and has a different bridge system?

Here's a bit more similar laptop review using a 1.6GHz Turion dual core:

However I have little to no doubt LT3100 is going to be a faster laptop across the board simply to due its Athlon CPU (vs. Atom CPU) being so much better for gaming. But my how much is anyone's guess.

my guess is that it won't be much improvement from intel atom then?

Improvement in what? Gaming? Those two notebooks both have poor performing IGPs for a reason; battery life.

If you're looking at day to day performance for things like web surfing, email, and videos, both will probably perform on a similar level, with the Gateway slightly leading with a better processor. However, that'll probably be at a cost of more heat and lesser battery life (until a review can prove me wrong).

my performance means video basically, i don't bother gaming. on a netbook, i look for video performance, intel gma 500 with windows xp playing 1080p videos can be laggish x.x

It'll be slightly better, but unless the x1270 has hardware acceleration for h.264 like the Ion, it'll perform the same as the atom.

Rather, get a more efficient decoder for h.264 like coreAVC or the DivX h.264 decoder. You can play 720 with it. Not so sure about 1080, but its worth a shot.

It can, but most video players do not utilize the hardware acceleration in the GM500, rather it uses the CPU for decoding videos which is significantly slower, hence why your 1080 video performance is laggy. That is why I recommend getting a more efficient decoder to relieve the burden on the CPU.

You can also try Media Player Classic Home Cinema. It has hardware acceleration support for the GM500. I believe it works in Vista only, but recent updates may have added support for XP. It won't hurt to check it out.

i already have that media player installed ;) doesn't work with xp for 1080p vidoes.. it is the driver issue from what i heard, which intel did give an update driver for intel gma 500.. but only for windows vista which also might work on windows 7

Try installing CoreAVC or DivX then. Both h.264 decoders are more efficient than ffdshow used in MPC.
