Will the Intel GMA 950 with 128MB of shared graphics be able to run Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 8 (both PC versions) adequately? The recommended specs for Final Fantasy 8 include 16MB of VRAM. Surely the GMA 950 would handle this ok?

    Thank you for your time.

yes i do own FF7 for pc and it will work fine on your computer. Make sure to download the patch for XP. as far as FF8 i dont know i never played it for pc. Both should run fine though.

I do know that a PSX emulator will play both the psx version very well. even with the gma950. you just have to do some tweaking.

    hope this helps.

Yeah it should run them perfectly, beware though, Final Fantasy Pc versions are full of bugs and crashes as they weren´t designed for Windows XP

I've trekked through FF7 a bit on my PC and it ran absolutley fine so I'm hoping for the same luck with my soon to be purchased laptop (which may be Vista...). I'd better start crossing those fingers to hope that it'll be ok on Vista!

Will the GMA 950 be ok for N64 emulation as well?

yes the gma950 should be more than enough for n64 emulation. look for the project64 emulator that is the most reliable and best for games IMO

as for it working on vista yeah i'd cross your fingers and toes.

I've used Project 64 on my PC before and I thought it was excellent so I'll definetley be chucking that onto the laptop.

I've even got my nose crossed...

    hahahaha!

You might also want to try 1964 emulator, in case PJ64 doesnt work for you, I personally think that if you use PJ64 video plugins with the 1964 it works better.

Yep, GMA should be fine, although im not sure about Perfect Dark... :p

I'll keep that in mind thanks. I'm not too fussed about PD (really since I can NEVER find the ROM for it) and it will really be a means of fulfilling any basic gaming needs whilst I'm away from home at uni. If I can get FF7, FF8 and the two N64 Zeldas and some Mega Drive (Genesis) Phantasy Star action I'll be most pleased!

Heh, thanks! Finally, someone who appreciates Power/Melodic Metal here, they´re my favorite band.
