Anyone having trouble running Quake Live in full screen mode using Vista 64-bit and GMA X3100?

    http://quakelive.com

It will render in full screen mode but it looks like it's rendering in software OpenGL mode the frame rate is very low ~1-2 FPS at 1280x800. Windowed mode of Quake Live works OK. Just as a comparison, Quake 3 Arena run at ~100 FPS full screen mode and it's more or less the same game.

I've have the most recent GM965 graphics drivers for my HP 6190p laptop. (Driver Revision: 15.12.2.64.1637)

    Thanks!

Well besides running as browser plug-in, it's the same engine and and resources. I should not be running at near 1 FPS no matter what if it's actually rendering through the X3100 GPU.

Trust me this is a game configuration or driver issue. Is anyone running Quake Live here with the X3100 Intel hardware?

    Hey,

I googled the issue and found this page because I have it too. It has to be a driver issue: the drivers that originally came with my dell vostro 1400 for the gm965 worked in quake live, full screen, but it overheated very easily. Getting the latest driver led to very low FPS full screen. I'm not informed enough to guess at what's happening differently between the driver versions; does anybody have a clue?

No help from me, but I thought I'd let you know that you aren't the only person frustrated that their laptop (even with the x3100) is no match for Quake Live.

Cool good to know. So this is likely an Intel driver problem if it rendered correctly albeit with heat problem. Thanks.

id Software obviously has problems if a modern laptop cannot run their 9 year old game with their browser plug-in. Like I said, normal Quake 3 is more than fast enough on the very same laptop.

Let's hope the Intel and the Quake Live beta period sheds some light on the problem.

I'm not sure what exactly happened but Quake Live is now running with my X3100 with hard acceleration. It's still much slower than Quake 3 but it's working. Maybe id made patched Quake Live.

Ok figured out my frame rate problem and solution:

I made a post in the Quake Live forums explaining how I fixed my frame rate issues with Quake Live:
    http://www.quakelive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14741

r_enablePostProcess needs to be turned off in the Quake Live config file.

Good luck and happy fragging. :D
