My brother just got a shiney new Compaq Presario CQ60-116EO.
(Dident show up on hp.com, but found it on the norwegian hp site.)

So, he asked me to install some cool classics like CS 1.6, WC3 and WoW.
Thinking this lappy would de decent enough to run the games here i installed them for him.
Started up CS and it lagged with max 12-19 fps on small maps.
This cant be right, so im posting here for some expert advices.

    Specs:
    CPU: Intel Celeron 2.00 GHz
GPU: Intel GL45 (Cant add webpage so please add http manually) picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/IOAavei14MiTOpgsxEURaw
    Memory: 2048 MB
    HDD: 250 GB

It came preinstalled with Vista SP1 and a lot bloatware.
But i did a torough cleaning so it should be nearly like a reformat.

    Any help is kindly accepted.

    Sincerely,
    DEagleson

your getting the right fps for that laptop. Your intel onboard graphics card is not enough to run 3d games. You would require something from ATI or NVIDIA especially if you want to run CS and WOW. You will be fine however with wc3 since its 2d.

Does that mean that a Intel GMA 950 runs CS 1.6 better?
One of my friends own a MSI Wind, and i know that the Atom processor is slower than the Celeron featured in this notebook, but it also has Intel GMA 950.
He plays CS 1.6 with no lag.
He even runs Spore on it. :(

    Any help is kindly accepted.

    Sincerely,

LOL. Yes sorry it is too weak to run most games. Your friend can buy one of the new external GPUS but only if he can afford to spend double the money for what hes getting.

It sounds like you have the Intel X4500 MHD graphics processor; it sounds amazing and it is an improvement over Intel's old GMA 900 and 950, but improving a very weak graphics card doesn't make it that much more capable. To get the most performance out of Vista, I suggest you follow this guide..

You should also make sure that you have the latest video drivers for the X4500, although I doubt that all this effort will get you much better gaming performance.

Its defenitely not the X4500MHD cause that runs WoW, CS and all that stuff more than fine. I think u got the lite version of it.

I searched for similar threads and came across this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=317418

I'm not sure why you'd create a duplicate thread, but the last thing you can do is make sure Windows is well-maintained and update the graphics driver. You should also check your temps using HWmonitor.

    Settings on CS 1.6:
    800x600 OpenGL.
Tried both 16 and 32 bit, but no performance gain whatsoever. :(

    WoW:
800x600, and all settings on low.
Disabled V-sync on Intel Control Panel.
