    Hi there!

Anyone know if this is true? My Pentium M laptop has died and I'm looking at a replacement with this graphics chip. Thoughts?

If you intend to play games expect no noticeable difference to be honest. Try and go for a Radeon HD 3650 at the minimum for games as that is about on par with an 8600M GT, not spectacular but okay for casual games!

Agreed, you should look for something like the mentioned HD 3650 or Nvidia 8600/9600 series. They are very solid mid-range gaming choices. Filling out the FAQ in our What Should I Buy forum can help us recommend something to you.

Hi there. Thanks for the suggestions. I only really want to run SpellForce 2 at most which ran well on a GeForce FX5600. Surely it can cope with this?

Sure it can. I am currently playing Heroes 5 and Guild Wars on the x4500. All very playable.

Well that sounds just peachy. Spellforce 2 was about the most demanding game I ran on the Radeon.

The X4500 is just about on par with my radeon 9600 in benchmarks, but the X4500 would beat out my radeon 9600 in newer games...
I lost my pride and opted for a smaller notebook and I don't 'game' anymore jks

Right, thanks. I should be getting 2+ hours of battery life, right? Does the chip go into low power mode?

What about considering the ATI HD3200 IGP?

If you need a smaller notebook, opt for the LG P300. I believe it has a 8600M GS graphics card and a 13.3 inch screen, a unique computer. This video card will be four to five times faster than the Intel X4500.
