GMA x3100 vs ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
How do these two cards compare ? I recently bought a used T42 with the mobility radeon, and unfortunately it wont do compiz at full SXGA+![]()
Just wondering how the state of the art now in integrated graphics compares to it.

Which model of the radeon? There are a lot of em =/

Check the comparison page. The newest Intel x3100 is impressive as far as a GMA is concerned, but by it still can't compare with a dedicated video card.
-
For non-gaming applications, the X3100 really will not have a problem. Anything gaming...ugh (as usual for integrated cards).

Its ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 with 32 mb ram -
Umm I think I'd say The GMA X3100 is better in this situation... Usually the dedicated cards are better but I think in this case... it's not true. I think the X3100 would be better.

The x3100 would be better for any modern games, especially as the drivers mature.

I'm pretty sure the GMA X3100 would be all over an MR 7500. That was a pretty decent DX7 level card, but with the new XP drivers for the GMA X3100 enabling hardware T&L combined with the X3100s large clock speed advantage, the X3100 should lead in pure DX7 code and offer better compatibility with modern games because of full DX9.0c support. (DX10 support is to be added in Q1 2007)

The 7500 is VERY old. So yeah the Intel will perform better.

an x3100 with a lv c2d 1.6ghz (my x61t) performs FAR better than an mr 9000 with a banias p-m 1.6ghz (my i600m).
And my guess is that, since this is the notebookreview forum, not the tabletpcreview forum, you'll be getting something more powerful than a mere L7500, which means you won't be disappointed -

With 7500 ati radeon and all ...
I wont be using it for games, its just that it would have been nice to have compiz (aero for linux) running on it. -
