    Hi everyone,

I was wondering is the Intel HD 3000 faster in the i5 than the i3? Clearly, the CPU is faster, but is the GPU also faster in the better CPUs? Is the difference noticeable for minor games?

I am looking to buy the Portege Z830 ultra book, and there are a few different types (mostly CPUs).

    Thanks!

the chip is the same for all versions for mobiles. the desktop version is also the same but clocked higher.

no major difference for most gaming scenarios. poor for 3d in general, there will definitely be a large percentage of aaa type games that just wont run well on the hd 3000 regardless of settings.

Those are ULV [ultra-low volt] processors [which ultrabooks like the portege z835 have], which I believe have a lower base clock than the higher performance i3/i5/i7 mobile processors.
Not sure how that will affect performance.

Here's the intel data sheets for the ULV processors that come with the z835
    i3-2367m: Intel® Core? i3-2367M Processor (3M Cache, 1.40 GHz)
    i5-2467m: Intel® Core? i5-2467M Processor (3M Cache, up to 2.30 GHz)
    i7-2677m: Intel® Core? i7-2677M Processor (4M Cache, up to 2.90 GHz)

that's true- the voltage tiers do have a clock difference on the hd 3000 (as well as the CPU) - note that there's still no difference between i3/i5/i7

    Sorry to butt in. :(

Does anybody else with the HD3000, get video corruption when playing youtube video`s , you start the video small, then click fullscreen and then the video will be all garbled, then if you bring the video back to an earlier point the the video starts playing fine again, this has happened to me on two different brands of notebook with the HD3000 , I used the latest flashplayer.

Happens to me and I have an AMD laptop. I think it's just a problem with youtube/flash or something.

    Small correction:

    My old Asus U24E's I7-2620M's (35W TDP) HD3000 base clock was/is 650MHz and Turbo clock was 1300MHz.

I occasionally get green shadows while playing some videos on YouTube in Chrome (previous gen Intel HD graphics) but I think it's because of ancient hybrid graphics drivers which can't be updated.

Yeah I kinda have the same problem.
When watching HD youtube videos with the Intel HD 3000, they become a bit fuzzy if I go fullscreen, when I switch to the HD 6770M the videos look perfectly fine.
    what could be causing this?

Since i switched to AMD graphics youtube video`s play great, no breakup what so ever, I am surprised most of the other HD3000 owners dont seem to have a problem apart from you DJ.
