    Hey all,

I recently purchased the Sony Vaio Z (3rd generation), and it comes standard with Intel HD 4000 graphics. I am not a hardcore gamer, but I wanted to know if this card can handle Assassin's Creed Revelations. Any advice is appreciated!

    Thanks,

    -TheDelux2

Maybe on very low. Assasins's Creed is not a very good PC port

Should run it around 30fps (console framerate) with medium and maybe some high detail at 720p.

What is the general performance of the HD 4000? Notebookcheck seems to rank it above some of the lowest-end discretes, like the 610m.

yep i guess it fits around GT 420-445 gpu. its a decent low end card, it proved that intel is making steps into right directions.
At least is a gpu that can sustain even intensive dx11 stuff.

Actually, according to Notebook check, the Intel HD 4000 is similar to Nvidia's 330M in performance.

Since I'm using a Sony Vaio Z right now with a 330M installed in it, and if that is indeed the case, I can tell you right away that this is a very nice compromise. My 330M can run most current games (Skyrim included) in 1360X768 resolution with mid-high graphics settings, which is quite alright if you buy an inexpensive non-gaming laptop that only has the Intel HD 4000. The only game so far I just couldn't get to run at all no matter what I've tried is The Witcher 2.

I don't have Assassins Creed Revelations, but I do have Assassins Creed 2, which should have similar graphic demands to Revelations, as far as I know. I could check how it runs on my laptop, if that would help.

hello amir, i literally just joined the forum to ask you a quick question. i know this is outdated topic and you probably no longer own your original laptop but i'm considering buying a Macbook Pro 2010 i5, with Nvidia 330m 256 graphics, i'd just like to know which type of games i'll be able to play on it, i'm not really a gamer but it would be nice just to know exactly what i can handle

perhaps games like call of duty 4, mw2,
    FPS, RPG free online games,
Portal 2, Team fortress 2, left for dead etc.. mainly 2010/11 games i suppose ;S

    thanks!

Uchenna, I could run pretty much most of the games up until 2011 on that GPU playing at 1366X768 resolution. I played Skyrim on High settings with 2x-4x anti-aliasing, Fallout 3, Left for Dead, Call of Duty 4 and the Mass Effect trilogy on very decent graphical settings. Even Civ V on DX9 settings was playing just fine (although I had to lower the graphical settings of the leader screens).

Buying this hardware today, though...it's a bit tougher to recommend, unless you can get it very cheap.

yeah it feels a little strange buying a 2010 Macbook Pro equivalently price to a quad core i7 laptop with 2 GB graphics but i figured since the PS4 & 720 will be out soon i wouldn't loose out on too much - the laptop is really for school work and pleasure i suppose. anyway, that's just the answer i was hoping for Amir, much appreciated man

When I first got my new laptop, Everquest was defaulting to it, and I didn't even realize until I tried turning up some settings.

I have had the same problems with some of my games, defaulting to the internal graphics card. Its a bit odd.

I just had to go into graphics settings and set default to dedicated, or you can individually set programs to use a certain video card.
