    I was wondering if anyone knows how the new Intel HD graphics compare to a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT from a desktop?

    A desktop 8800gt is mainly a gtx260m (9800m gtx) with a bit lesser bandwidth (256 vs 3xx).
    So short answer is that it still has a huge advantage over the newer hd.

    The 540M is 50% slower, the 6770M is close to equal.
