    Hi I just bought Acer 5920 Laptop. It came with Mobile Intel GMA X3100 card.

    I installed a new game called "Overclocked: A History of Vioence" on it & got the following error:

    Error in function cCougarGraphics::cCougarGraphics
    Direct3D initialization failed.
    Direct3D Error code: 0x8876086c, D3DERR_INVALIDCALL
    Invalid call
    File: .\source\class_graphics.cpp, Line: 205

    I want to know if its my GMA card's problem or something else?

    Thanks!

    I think I do. I updated the DirectX from the game itself & searched for the updates of intel drivers on the net via device manager & it said that I have the latest drivers.

    Ok I am not a big computer wiz. Sticker on my system says Mobile Intel GMA X1300 & the hardware shows Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family.

    Are they different I am looking at the same thing?

    Well, one's the graphics card (X3100) and the other's the chipset.

    So which one should be reinstalled? I don't see X3100 in the hardware device.

    Check the display adapter in the device manager... x3100 should be there. I think this is the one you should reinstall

    Device Manager:

    1. Display Adopters = Mobile Intel (R) 965 Express Chipset Family
    Location = PCI bus 0, device 2, function 0

    2. Monitors = Generic PnP Monitor
    Location = on Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

    Get the drivers here:

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...bit version&lang=eng&iid=homepage+dc_gmad_vis

    There's no such thing as a computer that can display images without a video card installed, even if it isn't one that shouldn't be playing games.

    I think X1300 Graphic is boarded on the chipset. Its not a graphic card (as the shop ppl told me).

    My Acer E Settings Management System Summary also does not mention X1300. It says "Video = Mobile Intel (R) 965 Express Chipset Family"

    just download the latest driver from Intel and install it, no need to uninstall it, works fine for me. Also the X3100 is an integrated graphic card so expect not so WOW visual and performance. But if you wait til the new driver comes out miracles could happen.

    X3100 is NOT a gaming card by any means. Please do *NOT* expect miracles. Consider it a bonus that any current (i.e. 2005 and forward) games run decently on it.

    If you want to run games then just please get a laptop with dedicated video card.
