I was hoping a Ion based netbooks would hit the mass consumer market soon, but it seems more and more unrealistic that it will ever happen. Right now i'm considering a Acer Aspire One 751. So whats the deal with the Intel US15W/GMA500? I can't seem to find any benchmarks. Is it anywhere nearly as fast as a Ion/Geforce 9400M would be?

No way is it even as close to an Ion.

It's close to the GMA950 graphics, but i think it has better video decoding capabilities. (not completely sure about this)

Gaming performance is worse than the GMA 950, but in turn it supports hardware acceleration of certain video files.

Intel produces IGPs that are nowhere the performance of Nvidia's. Lenovo S12 is a netbook that will have the Ion platform.

That sucks. I know about the S12, but to me it seems like little more than hot air. And i'm not even sure it will be available where i live. I'll probably go with GMA950 since Linux support for the GMA500 should be pretty bad.
