    Intel X3100: what's the difference in the registry tweaks?

    Hi to all.

    I have been coming across several forums mentioning the HW/SW TnL registry modification for the X3100. An example is this thread below:

    What I don't get is that some include a "~" version in addition to the "_" version - meaning that in addition to _ game.exe, they also include ~ game.exe.

    Does anyone know what each does? I've already emailed Intel Support about it but haven't received any reply yet. I'm really interested in learning more about this and figure out the applications that might benefit from this.

    Certain games run better in software mode than in hardware mode. Intel maintains their own list, but not all games are on the list. So, play around with this setting with the game you're playing to get better frame rates.
