Hi there, I am looking to get a Fujitsu S6510 with a docking station and a 24" monitor. It has a INTEL GM 965 Chipset with GMA X3100 graphic card. Intel's website says that the GM965 chipset with GMA X3100 can support maximum resolution of 2048 x1536.

    (page 3)
    http://download.intel.com/products/graphics/intel_graphics_guide.pdf

Incontrast Fujitsu's website say it can only support a max res of 1600 x 1200.
    source: http://www.computers.us.fujitsu.com....shtml?products/notebooks/tech_specs/s6510_ts

Is it possible for computer manufacture to limit max external res? if so y would they do it?

Considering the x3100 graphics do not support DVI your statement is 100% WRONG.

The fujitsu website is simply wrong. Mfrs post incorrect specs all the time. They always have and always will.

Actually Fujitsu may not be wrong. I've heard that although Intel GPUs support 2048x1536 resolutions, that's only true in 2D, and the maximum in 3D is really 1600x1200. I can't confirm that though :p. Take what you want.

Lol...tone it down guys ;) lolz....I think that Onion might be right...that ....the ....manufacture made a mistake........cus i checked the data sheet of fujitsu S6410....which has the same Chipset and GMA X3100 the only diference is that it is a 13.3" rather then 14"

the data sheet says it supports up to 1920 X 1200....but its still not what intel say ...2048 x 1536...om....any input?

onion, it's starting to impress me. You persistently post factually wrong information, and act like a jerk insulting everyone who believe (or know) differently.

Don't you think you should take a break from this forum and perhaps learn how to behave like a civilized person?

If you want to flame people, perhaps you should start by doing your research, so that you can actually be sure that those you attack and insult are wrong.

Doing it the other way around is just embarrassing yourself. You're showing yourself to be a childish troll who 1) doesn't know what he's talking about, and 2) Insults and flames everyone who happens to have researched the subject before posting.

Keep it on topic and calm down.

i think it can only display the lower res. there are lots of folks reporting similar findings even with nvidia graphics cards on the dell forums where they cant get the resolution to go higher. Personally i dont know, i only have a 17" external lcd and a 720p tv so none of my resolutions are that high to test these things with.

VGA can support up to 2048x1536, single-link DVI up to 1920x1200, and dual-link DVI to whatever WQXGA is

wqxga is the resolution of those 30" screens, 2560×1600.

The max resolution in the vga port depends on the ramdac quality as well. I always thought that this was internal to the gpu, but maybe I'm wrong and the fujitsu site is right
