    Hey guys,

I am looking at a couple of laptops and they will be used predominantly for dvd/online movie/episode watching. I am planning on hooking it up to my 1080p flat screen. Is there any difference between these two cards as far as picture quality. Which would be better for hooking up a laptop via HDMI to my LCD (graphics wise) or is there not so much of a difference if i am just using it for this purpose?

    Thanks all

Since the X3100 doesn't support HD playback, you would need a more powerfull CPU than with the 8400M GS. I'd personally go with the 8400 personally, and I doubt there are many X3100 laptops with an HDMI port.

The quality would be the same

i know the Dell XPS M1330 and 1525 models(OLDER VERSION) have an HDMI port and they run on an x3100. If i were to get a laptop with the x3100 and an HDMI port would there still be a difference?

Yes it can, I'm talking about HD playback, it doesn't have an HD decoder like the GF8/Radeon 2K so everything is done by CPU. A 1080p blu-ray might have some problems on a T5500 alone. (at least Dell says the T5xxx aren't HD capable, they probably can though)
