C'mon, it isnt cancelled. The whole purpose of this Intel slammer is to send out a message to the competition that they also are going to enter this market and will collide.
Its inevitable. I think the Larrabee 1TF-presentation was a joke knowing that the best GPU on the market atm can achieve 4 TF...

, why would Intel make this a-hole move? Wow, so they already have, and have had for some time now oh i don't know, what, 90% of the market share in media processors on computers in general? No, i am overreacting, this will NEVER be developed because nVidia or ATI/AMD graphics cards will not cease to exist, they have existed far too long to dry up because Intel came up with a revolutionary design. Them developing this may raise graphics standards quite a bit though, in turn the end users may get alot more flexibility for graphics units.

It's difficult to talk up TeraFLOPS, because such talk isn't absolute, though I will agree and I'm not surprised that ATi and Nvidia have products that are well in excess of what Intel currently can do on the graphics front.

There is a WORLD of difference between ACTUAL 1TF performance and the "theoretical" (read: Never going to happen, not even close) 1TF.

Also depends on the method of measurement and the benchmark itself too. And yes, theoretical means just that: theoretical, and it's never reached.

Good news this is... we can't have intel winning everywhere otherwise our laptops will be called intel gaming laptops with intel GPU... and not to mention we'll be paying a ton.... God save NVDIA and ATI.... and die to the intel GPU department which only produces crap compared to the rest of intel... I am Nver buying an integrated intel card ever again after using them for years because i got no cash....

Yes it is good news, i think Intel should focus more on power and heat dissipation and reducing it much more. Theoretical power is if all variables are optimum and if there are zero errors in the coding of whatever program they are using, and that there is no power defficiencies.

Either the world flipped upside-down and Intel shook hands with Nvidia, or Intel is just fine with a mediocre continuation of their integrated 4500 MHD in Arrandale. Perhaps both ;)

It would be nice to see an agreement between the two, and have a common Arrandale chipset with integrated Intel and discrete PCI-Express, with Nvidia having a licensed agreement. Then a showdown with AMD...

The recent settlement agreement Intel made with AMD gives each access to the other company's patents....I wouldn't be totally surprised if Intel used that to switch gears and came out with something similar to an ATI IGP.

Yeah... but i always thought that tech savvy people knew that these cards are not for specific applications.

At least for the moment, Nvidia's and AMD's stockholders are sure glad that Intel ditched Larrabee.

I really hope Intel does not nudge in on graphics, which they already have.. but come on Intel, do you really need all that money?
