Its about time Intel stepped up to the playing field. This is glorious news for everyone- nvidia is finally getting some SERIOUS competition. These new gpu's are almost as fast, much cheaper, and much lighter on the power / heat / space.

This is also great news for prospective laptop buyers!

    Read about it more here.

    Lets work it out.

Consider 6 years ago, what were the available GFX cards? Geforce 4 and later Geforce FX (5).

I'd venture to say that the most modern intel integrated GFX (the X3100) could compete fairly well with a Geforce 4600 ti (based on my experience with equivalent settings in WoW, comparing FPS).

So 6 years from now, the best integrated graphics should be able to compete with something around a Geforce 9600GT.

Then again, technical advances might accelerate or decelerate somewhat, giving me an error of maybe 2 years. Heck, it is possible with homogenization (CPU + GPU on a chip) we will see 8800 Ultra performance in 4 years. But "integrated graphics" wont mean the same thing anymore.

I hear this chip takes a revolutionary approach by integrating living tissue.

...It was never skynet all along!
