the last one about resident evil 5 i don't like, i hate how someone always has to turn it into a racial thing, and it's usually not intended but they just have to go a pick things out that make it seem racist. One person says it's racist or offensive and then others start to say the same, when they could have just left it alone and it probably wouldn't have been noticed by most people as something racist.

Some people just have to complain about something. Personally, I like the horror games. But then again, I always have and always will. Oh well, let the critics be critics.

Hmm, I would have thought Fallout 3 to be there, what with the Atomic Bomb issue.

i think most of racial controversy in America involve black people. if it is anyone else it doesn't matter,, it seems! i feel this way because people say taboo if someone attack a black person but anyone else is not significant. hmmm  kids in my school were very scared to say negro but had no problem to call me chink or gook. i think because black people have much longer, and most oppressive, history than us.

I hate how people say resident evil 5 is racist. Ok it would be fine if the main character was black and they were killing a bunch of white people. Black people have fought for so much but its gone to some of their heads

MK, Doom, GTA, and Postal have made their mark in video game controversy. I never played manhunt, but all the game promotes is up close and personal murder right? I suppose that deserves an AO... the rest of the stuff on the list was minor though, and the article rather pointless. More promotion for RA5 if anything

The last 4 Resident Evil contained spanish and white zombies, no one had a problem with that, but now they do with RE5?

I didn't find it controversial, but there was much discussion at time of its release.

Not to turn this into a political thread, but as a white person (yes white, not Caucasian, why can't I say "black" instead of African American?) living in Detroit, I have to say that the black population here tend to repress themselves. They are welcome everywhere, but make most everything into a racist issue.

I know the black history was terrible, but come on, these days, there is no more racial issues for blacks as any other "race". I have black friends and it really gets on my nerves when they're with me they act "normal" and speak like an educated person that they are, but as soon as they hang out with their black friends, they start talking like they're uneducated and do stupid things.

If I were a mod I'd be apt to close this thread well in advance. People are already saying some profoundly ignorant crap.

And I'm white, but I don't have to be Korean to appreciate how unspeakably racist Crysis is. Unless you think "Die Yankee dog!" in a bad Engrish accent is totally reasonable.

Come to Detroit and live for five, ten, fifteen years. Your opinions and outlook change tremendously. Mine did. Great area, great people. It just has it's curiosities to say the least. I'm not looking to be controversial. I am just saying how I see and live it!

I love how people can say "you're wrong" or "oblivious" when they obviously don't live in your area or the life you do.

It's no different than when a group of women get together, or a group of men, or a group of PC geeks. People do change their attitude, and the way they talk and think, unfortunately. It just bugs me to see some great and intelligent individuals to act like idiots, and do stupid things that get them in trouble because of the group they hang with.

I agree with you about the Crysis issue, but with Resident Evil 5, it's being condoned as racist when none of the other RE series has been labeled racist. Did anyone complain about RE4 and shooting Spanish-speaking people?

People blew the racism in RE5 out of proportion, and I think it's worth looking at the broader picture, looking at the game in context like you might look at another Africa-themed game, Far Cry 2.

Yes, it's a white person shooting black zombies. But the co-op character if I remember correctly is also black, and the real issue is a valid point: that this is basically white people (Umbrella Corp) screwing up Africa again.

Take a look at Far Cry 2, which has something similar going on although the mercenaries are individuals of all colors...the heads of the two warring factions are really just puppets for foreign interests. White ones.

There's too much political discussion and talk about racism for this thread to stay open; things are already getting heated. Rather than cleaning up the thread, I'm closing it. Unfortunately, the nature of this thread lends itself to this kind of discussion.

Please don't create another thread on this topic in the gaming forum. Thanks for understanding.
