    say i joined for a few games with the NBR guys here on BC2, how awful would the pings be from UK to USA? unplayably bad or do you think i'd be ok? i wanna join in the fun :) but only if it means i don't get thoroughly raped continously because they are actually half a second in front of where i see them.

    It's going to depend on how close to the backbone you are, etc. I can play RTS's fine from here, but not FPS's for instance.

    Yeah and there's alot of variables regarding this, and even if you knew all of them it's just an educated guess at best.
    What i'm talking about is stuff like what internet connection you have, what the server is offering, how many people on the server etc.

    It takes like what, 5-10 minutes to start the game and join?

    UK to USA is about 150 - 300 i think

    Yeah for FPS's it's not the best....I was just in Spain for a semester and tried playing CS:S once in a while. Servers that would normally have a ping of around 30-40 had pings in the low-mid 100s
