Finally, a good tool for GPUs called GPU-Z (you should have already guessed it's capabilities) has been released which can be downloaded from here.
Using this tool, we will be able to collect some information concerning the laptop GPUs such as the bus-width , v-ram memory type , the clocks, etc... which can help discovering the reason for the under-performing of laptops and the impact of these features on the GPU performance. (As we know, these are a lot of diversities when it comes to the GPU setup in laptops)
Please either post a screenshot (click on the GPU-Z window, press alt+printscreen , paste it in the paint , save it and attach it to your post) or submit the information to the database and drop-in a link to here (don't forget to add [NBR] to username in the form)
Thanks for all the help![]()

Will do, mujy.
-
Awesome! Looks great, and as simple as CPU-Z to use!
-
Woow, it works. Awesome, now I can easily check if my OC stuck in vista.

Eh, it seems it still has problems recognizing the info for your GPU, fabarati.
Well, it's still 0.0.3, hopefully, they will get it to work for all the machines . -
LOL, I just noticed. But yeah it will get better. And my GPU is fairly uncommon.

Wait, your go7200 only has a 32bit bus? that seems wrong...
-
Nice work !!!
Let's try it on my 8600M GT OC -
Actually, it is correct. The Go 7200 is quite a neutered discrete gpu.... -
woow, that's really bad. 32 bits? low end stuff from earlier generations still had 64bits...

x700 128mb!
-
^^ heres mine, but you are right seems a bit of info is missing.
-
seems like it's more compatible with radeon cards. mine doesn't show the dx version, or the bus width, or the bandwidth. memory type is also said to be sdr...i have a 8600

Techpowerup guys who make ATItool !Are they bond to ATI? -
8400M GS, doesn't look right

I think the consensus is that nVidia cards don't work properly with this version. Which is 0.0.3...
-
ok, we'll just have to wait and hope then

Awesome thanks!

Nice work
Now were all just waiting for a hdd-z dvd-z bluray-z ram-z etc...

Nice tool. Here is pic of my overclocked card with DDR2. Well over 420 MHz!
usapatriot - check this please - I checked your pic - it seems that my bios is a bit newer, but that is all. Do you remember our talk about overclocking x1600? And me having GDDR3 instead of GDDR2? Well it seems that I was right - I have GDDR2.
I also noticed that my card has BIOS default speeds way lower than Powerplay sets! GPU-z shows that. Now that reminds me that many people cannot overclock too much above the default speeds. Can it be that Powerplay overrides BIOS settings (as all OC tools do), and sometimes it simply cannot be turned off. That is why some people cannot overclock to the max. What do you think?
Cheers,

Heres mine. Lot of info missing/blank. Hmmm
-
I don't think they should be using the name GPU-Z, I wonder how cpuid feels about that....Anyways, yeah doesn't seem to like nVidia GPUs at all.
It barely knows what I am, PC Wizard knows more about my GPU than GPU-Z does at the momentIn my laptop, haven't tried it in my desktop yet.

Heres my Dell 6400's ATI X1400, according to this the nVidia 7200 on the first page is more powerful! I thought the X1400 was equivalent to the nVidia 7400?
-
Because pure specs don't say much. The architectures are completely different. And the go7200 on the first page looks heavily overclocked. Still really bad though.
-
wow apparently I have GDDR3... -
My HD2600. Quite the beast considering how Toshiba crippled it w/ lower memory clock.

lol

Nice tool...but still needs more work.
-
that's not the new version...the latest one, i think is 0.0.0.6 and they fixed some stuff in it, like the bus width, dx support, etc
-

-
Yup, miner used 0.0.6. You can see it on top of the window.
-
my bad, didn't look there....just saw that some of his settings are unavailable...
-
It still doesn't detect mine properly.
-
yeah it looks like there still is an issue with Nvidia cards. I still have 1 pixel shaders and no vertex shaders, which is wrong
-
The latest version 0.0.6 works fine for my 8600M GT.
Here's my specs:
Maybe driver is part of the reason why it's not working for some of you guys? I'm still using the default 101.28 drivers since it's OC'able (I haven't OC'd my GPU yet, though). -
yeah, but look at the dx version it is showing...i guess, it's just because u are using xp ...
-
XP Rocks

^^in lil jon's voice "yeaahhh"

-
Doesnt read the mr x1900 properly...says it has 12 pixel/5 vertex which is quite off!
-
It crashes on my comp as soon as I try to run it...
