I'm going to pick up CC:S in a little bit. But before I do I'm new to CS and never played it before. The question I have is that since I'm so new will I always get my butt kicked on it. Or is it a game that is nice to new players? Thanks!

Yep. It's a game for kids that forgot to play soccer, ride a bike... and who spends all their time playin' it.
-
It can be difficult for new players. I would recommend starting your own Single Player server, with 7-11 bots, starting on easy. Once you get pretty good, bump it up to medium. Once you get good at that, head online.
-
Hey! I played lots of baseball and used to live on my bike! Then I grew up and was finally able to buy big toys. Currently, my toy/project is my 08 Ram 1500 SLT. Working towards rims, about to do a 2" leveling kit in the front, and a system which is going to happen soon. -
I tried it for the first time last fall and it wasn't too bad.
If you are quick and relatively good with shooters online, you shouldnt' have too much of a problem with this one. The only thing is that you have to learn the maps because that'll be your biggest obstacle. -
^^ I agree. If you've played other online shooters on a PC its not too bad its just learning the maps. It may be a little more difficult than other but I don't think by much from when I used to play.
-
you will get worked at first, i know i did. learn maps and learn how to controll your shots and your kd ratio will improve.
-
If you are fast and twitchy, you'll do well, although there will be a little bit of time required to learn the subtleties of the maps.

i think going to source new would be easy, however, going to cs 1.6 new would not be. the movement in 1.6 isn't like modern games really. the accuracy and the ability of the players far exceeds beginners, so you'll likely die a lot if you're going into 1.6, but source however, is much easier, so if you've played fps games before you should be fine.

For a newcomer to Counter Strike S the best solution for online gameplay at first is to find a server that has the name Noobs on it, the best map to get started in my opinion is de_dust 2.
-
Difficulty depends on who you play against.

Started with HL deathmatch and progressed to CS around July/August 1999. Good times. I miss it sometimes. -

Since i ve been into CS, CZ & CSS for more than 8 yrs i can give u some opinions.
For newbies few things can happen.
1. You ll be completely ignored..a nameless creature...no one will even talk to you...you ll undergo indentiy crisis & stop playing with them.
2. You ll be totally bullied, called a n00b & then kicked from server because u r wasting a Slot.
3. If you have potential talent, u ll make lot of friends & earn lot of respect & maybe asked to put a 'trial' tag and recruited by a local clan...Highly unlikely as u are just starting to play.
So dont feel disappointed and keep playing for fun.
Remember its just a game.
Although for many people around the world CS series is the most Competitive Cybersport.
Source is full of n00bs anyway so dont worry about getting PWNED..u ll be able to kill 1 or 2 easily.
Happy Gaming! -
lol through my experience, you can assume people who dont type in game are noobs.

The most important aspect of enjoying CSS is finding a decent community. That, just like with most multiplayer games, is what keeps you coming back and what keeps it fun. I recommend finding an ALLTALK server (where voice chat is enabled so everyone can hear everyone else) and see if you like the people. I play mostly on the AS (adult swim) clan servers. If you find yourself looking for one...go into the servers pane, click the favorites tab, then click add server, and add in this ip address 207.210.237.34:27015
Make sure before you start playing a lot you go into your options and give yourself a player name. Some people make them the same as their Steam community name, some people make up new names. Primarily, a decent name builds familiarity with other players.
Also, try to be light and not too talkative when you first join. CSS is a game first, chat channel second. -
ALLTALK servers tend to attract Mic spammers.

I would give you more REP, but it wont let me give you more till I *spread it round*. -
Haha... well, spread the love Storm... I've got you to myself all nigh... uh...
I'm drunk. -
Seriously, why doesn't NBR have parties? -
Because it's hard to get all us hooligans and nay-doo'ers in one house.
That's why. -
-
Cool kids?
-
Well I hopefully will get the hang of it. I play fear combat a lot but still I also get my butt kicked on it.
-
Dont worry its not hard at all, spray is the ultimate solution to starters.
-
i dont really like cs, people die too quick. prefer games like battlefield 1942 or cod4

But find a nice server. Or better yet, if you have a friend, hang out with him. At least you'll be associated with someone that they (as in your friend's server) know.
And talk! Good name works too. Try to go for something funny but not corny. I personally used TooBigToFit, and people started liking me pretty quickly.
You could try {SuP4hl33tk1LLa}CaP-a-CoP because a few players might recognize it and laugh. Then again, it could backfire and cause them to tell you to think of something original. -
play aim ak colt and aim deagle maps untill uve got the hang of burst fire. when starting out apply the rule aim b4 you shoot as this will stop you from shooting at walls and wasteing a whole clip and hitting nothing. then once youve learnt a few maps head over to a mix vent. get use to playing 5 v 5 and how that works, imo playing proper matches is the only way to get good at css playing public is only for fun.

cs:s is bad, play 1.6 ^^
-
-
-
movement and accuracy mostly. they also made it much, much easier. they turned the game into basically a spray and pray fps. in 1.6, you had to actually controll your burst, where in cs:s you can spray all over the place and get headshots. i do it all the time. source is fun to mess around in, cause it's so easy, it's just i die more often than in 1.6 cause everyone awps and the awp is ten times easier to use now. i mean, they even got rid of pistol rounds for scrimming so it's easier for people.

-
true. but you can find many servers where people aren't hacking.
-
And it's also real easy to tell when someone is hacking.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Not too hard. Just started playing a few weeks ago. Now me and harpreet are owning it up 2gether.
-
Just picked up the game going to install it now.
