Hi all!
I'm playing UT3 Demo Maxed out 1920x1200
FPS is max most of the time except in the middle of Shangri La
where it drops to 40's when you look at the middle area of the map.
I was wondering if my fps dips to 35 sometimes in Shangri La
during 10 bot match intense battle in the middle arena
Does it mean my CPU is bottlenecking and I should O/C?
Also if I should what is the good step by step guide to O/C - ing
for Q6600 and 750 P7N SLI mobo with DDR2 800 MHz RAM?
-
At that resolution, your CPU hardly matters anymore, it's all on the GPU at that point.
This article gives some great insight on the subject. -
Is this on your machine in the signature or a laptop.
Here's a beginner's guide on OC'ing Overclocking Guide. You may have more specific information on how to OC with your specific MB on the manufacturers' forums (if they have one). -
what Kevin said. and yes, please OC that, I had mine at 3.0 fully stable and very cool, you can def go farther then that.
-
Even 3.6 GHz is a safe speed to run at with the Q6600.
There may very well possibly be a bottleneck w/ the CPU (is unreal multi-threaded?) but I doubt it. OC your vid card. -
The q6600 is a strong chip and will not be a gaming bottleneck for sometime.
-
I just want it to never drop below 50 - ish at least.
Is getting 10 fps boost in the middle of CPU - intensive fire - fights
when you have people shooting at each other, and triggering various physic effects.
a realistic expectation going from 2.4 to 3.2 GHz?
I have cooling fan called Intel Raidmax Maxcool BTW.
Also I was wondering if it's good idea to O.C. if I have never done it before
and step by step instructions involving what to click when your in BIOS?
Also it's going to be different for every motherboard?
are there specific instructions for 750i? -
Get more RAM maybe?
-
that cpu of yours shouldnt be a bottleneck at all, only type of game the cpu might me a bottleneck is a very intensive RTS games that does not multi-thread
-
Did someone say Shangri La? Shangri La is an amazing song! Check it out:
