740m?for latest games??its too weak for 1080p..you plan to buy a 1080p screen or 768p?its a big difference in gaming...first you must that decide cause for 1080p you need at least 760M for gaming(dont expect all games maxed out with 760m)..what games you plan to play?i think that auto cad is more CPU dependant. Can you post your budget and country where you come from?It will be easier to help you than

I am not that much of game lover. I want a laptop for both purpose actually. I am an Architect so basically I design buildings. By the way i am from India. And yes I am not planning for 1080p.. right now. just 768p is good enough. And I was planning to buy a sony f series model which comes with 740m.

if gaming isn't a priority, you should consider a quadro card.

For design, you should be using a professional workstation with an AMD FirePro or NVIDIA Quadro GPU. If your budget is extremely tight, and your programs use OpenCL (rather than CUDA), you could even get away with an Intel Iris Pro, though you really should use one of the aforementioned models.
Is NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M good for AUTOCAD and other designing softwares?
