Hello, i am new here, and i need some help:

I have to decide between three notebooks, with mosty the same configuration, but slightly different prices. I want this notebook to be fo gaming, so i have to decide on the Graphics Processor.

I have a choice between an X600 with 128Mb and a 9700 with 128 Mb. I have read another post where it is stated they are mostly the same, so i would go for the cheaper one. But at a very close price, like 50 euros more, i could get an X700, but only with 64Mb. I know that the X700 is faster, but does the 128Mb give the X600 an extra edge so that it is faster?

    Please help me!

    Thanx,

    Andy

The 9700 is agp while the x600 is pci-e. Usually agp's will give you better battery life. I personally didn't know that the x700 could come with only 64 mb of memory, but it would be better than the x600.

Put it this way: the RAM size determines how much colour can be displayed, whereas the core determines the calculation speed, so it really depends on what you want: performance or appearance?

It really depends on what you are going to be doing with the graphics card.

I don't know if the following is accurate but I read somewhere that the x700 is similar to the x800 but is designed more for the thin/light performance notebooks, while the x800 is for the larger desktop replacements.
While the x600 is similar to the x300 but faster.

Best thing to do would be to get the detailed specs of both cards and compare. The following article should help: http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/index.php/id;1854767920;pp;7;taxid;110#gettingthemostfromyourcard

Personally, I think that the x700 would probably be better.
